Looks like Zotac didn't fix the fans revving issues

Last gen I had to return a 980Ti Amp! Extreme because of fan speeds not being steady (same thing happened with a 980ti HoF, guess they used the same controller).

I was curious to see if this problem was still present and by the talk on other forums that seems the case:

I'll research more (I know this is just one guy) but I wanted to put it out there immediately as I remember how annoyed I was by it last year.

I'll update as soon as I find out more.

Arent the 1000 series amp extreme fans stopped at idle?

"when the user is not in action, the fans idle for complete silence"

I don't know about the AMP extreme but the AMP (dual fan) has no issues at all.

Yeah I don't doubt that, my scepticism comes from the fact the 1080 seems to be using the same fans (so probably many parts are similar) to the 980ti Extreme.

On r/Nvidia there's one person with the issue and hopefully he'll test some more.

It does do this yes. But only under 30% fans. 1% to 29% will produce pulsing (though inaudible) fans.

I've set my fans to come on at 45c at a minimum of 30%, and boost up to 50% at 65c. Completely quiet.

I thought id read about this 'pulsing' too at low temps, just to maintain the temp.

Id guess it is done via duty cycle, which would show on an oscilloscope similar to the picture posted.
