I was only taking the **** with the last sentence.

As for the fee, regardless of the way fees have gone, £100m is ott. Like I said, it's a bit like Di Maria, every day it's getting more expensive. At £50m odd then fair enough but for £100m you'd want one of the top 3-4 players in the world and Pogba's barely one of the top 3-4 midfielders in the world let alone players.

But like with Martial we're expecting him to improve further, it's not like he's at his peak.

The risk is obviously that he's just one player and if he struggles it'll be rather unpleasant, but I think he'll be fine.

I know. It's a bit like Newcastle paying £17m for Owen all those years ago - hopefully he turns out as useful.

Better not mention one Andy Carroll. ;)

£30m for Andy Carrol, let that sink in for a moment when we are comparing bizzare and outrageous transfer fee's

As a few of the press have said, Pogba is probably one of only a few Elite players who is available. Given the money that is coming into the game in England, there will always be a premium for players. Realistic price around £70m. At that price do Juve need to sell ? Probably not. Do Utd need that A Lister, only the club can truly tell you that but I am sure they have done the numbers on it. Even at 120m Euros all in for a player who is yet to hit his prime and can be a top draw for at least 6-8 years then no issue. So when you factor in increased money into EPL, The Man Utd Tax and Juve not needing to sell but every player has a price scenario, the price is not too outlandish

As for him not being top 3-4 midfielders, again subjective. Left Foot / Right foot with ease. Short passes in dangerous areas, long passes when needed. Can play deep, can drive the team up the pitch or can play in a more offensive role. Physically strong and quick.

At just turned 23, the fee may end up being insignificant in three to four years time as you are not buying the finished article but something close to it.

I said it a while ago, 100million is well over priced. He's a top of player we aren't really in need of. Another luxury buy rather than a needed player.i just fail to see what spending 100 million on him will bring us.

He's don't nothing much at the euros to justify that kind of price tag. Even sissoko looked better based upon today's performance but I appreciate he doesn't do that week in week out. I just don't buy it...

Example of a player we do need, and what we should pay for them, please.

Mkhitaryan and Martial, primarily. I'm not saying another wouldn't be useful, but it shouldn't and won't influence the Pogba deal. We could buy Pogba and another expensive wide player if we wanted.

They aren't wingers though, proper wingers i'm talking about. To me, it seems you have a hatful of cm's. Herrera, Carrick, Blind, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Felliani, youre just adding more competition in that position and therefore driving down the value of the players already there, as they won't be played. Someone like Coman whipping balls in for Ibra would make more sense in my opinion.

Is there any evidence Jose will want to play with 'traditional wingers' whipping balls in? I doubt it.

I have no confidence in any of our central midfielders really.

We don't really play with wingers, Martial, Depay, Mhki and perhaps Lingard will likely be our wide options (and of course Young who we couldn't get rid of even if we wanted to)

Huh? You seriously think Mourinho is going to play Ibra up front and not have balls being played in to take advantage of his strength and finishing ability in the box?

Are you a Man U fan? you've all been complaining about how your identity is lost and youre saying utd don't play with wingers, are forgetting about Beckham and Giggs? Utd have a long history with playing with skillful and quick wingers that can deliver good balls into the box

There are other ways to do that...

I'm not sure what he's going to do to be honest, we'll see.

I've never understood the argument that one poor transfer makes another one acceptable  Go back to the transfer thread on here when we signed Carroll, nobody was more bemused than me.

As for the stuff on Pogba. I'm not saying he's not a very good player, he is but the fee is bonkers. Even with the crazy money that's being spent, he's not a £100m player. Whether you're happy to sign him regardless or not is another matter but he's hugely overpriced, as you've admitted.
