Unfortunately, when these things happen it's typically down to human factors. I would think that somehow, somebody has accidentally allowed two trains onto the same section of line.

Similarities to the incident in Germany back in February, where the controller got distracted by a mobile phone game.
 
Could be an issue with the interlocking data used for the railway. Maybe a condition that was never tested that allowed two routes on the same line to be set.
 
RIP to those that have died, looks terrible.

Not really sure what the problem is with the first post? Probably those tumblrina warriors getting upset over everything again.

I'm not sure this needs to be said because it seemed pretty obvious but it's more the fact that terrorism was being mentioned at all, not whether you said it was or wasn't.
 
Let's get off the comment re: terrorism. There's no reason to think it is at this point, what it actually is seems to be an utter waste of life in an avoidable tragedy.
 
Look's pretty bad and from the pictures, appears to be on a single line of track. Not worth speculating at this time but very much doubt either of the drivers would have survived the wreckage. Sad for all those involved
