re. Giroud: all you need is Griezmann feeding off him, rather than Qelbeck and co, and you'll be fine...

He needs another striker with him to get the best out of him.

I think if we played 4-1-3-2 for the lower teams and 4-2-3-1 with the top teams we would have good success.

Higuain rumoured to have agreed personal terms with agent. Certainly would be a good summer if we added Draxler.

Re Higuain, just been reading a rumour that we have offered 42mill plus Le donkey to get him or we will go as high as 50mill without Le donkey.

Either way we should try and get Higuain with or without Le donkey. In fact I'm more than willing to take Le donkey out to Napoli myself :p.

Anyhow not sure how much truth there is behind this, probably none which sounds about right for Arsenal lol.

Not heard anything about Draxler myself other than a few rumours from the usual suspects.

a lot earlier in the summer a lot of places were mentioning £70m figure (or there abouts) for Higuain - and that seemed incredibly high (in comparison to the £100m Pogba :D) even for the numbers being bandied about this summer in general. £45-50m though would be a decent enough deal for both sides if the deal can be completed.

IF the papers can be believed Draxler would cost the best part of £40m and I just cant see AW spending that amount on both in one summer - the other thing is Draxler (from what Ive seen / heard of him, which isnt muich) is the kind pf player that would either be in Sanchez's position on the wing or Ozil (not sure if he has played as effectively on the wide right position), so this moght not be such a great investment anyway....

Draxler is young though so maybe a slightly deeper AM role could work?

Ozil played quite a bit on the right but having Sanchez ozil and Draxler rotating would be a good combo in my eyes. Add Higuain up front then that's pretty impressive.

We conceded 36 goals last season, tied with the League Winners and only behind United and Tottenham who conceded 35.

Not great but a far cry from "not good enough".

Indeed, our defence is decent enough. It's our strike force that is the major issue as in not scoring enough goals when we needed to.

Monreal is average, Mertersacker is a donkey and Kocielny is prone to concentration lapses. You need to invest in your back four if you want to start making some real progress in the CL, you will come undone without investment there.

Obviously a decent striker is highly important to Arsenal too.

Isn't Sanchez on his way out? Draxler could be a replacement and there'd definitely need to be one - as well as a CB who is a leader and a 35+ goal a season man up top.

No we rejected Juve's insulting offer of 30mill. I think we will keep Sanchez for another season then he will be off. Shame really as I like his work ethic.

Skrtel (£5.5m) and Ibe (£15m) are both expected to complete their moves away from Liverpool in the next day or so. Like I said the other day, with Benteke, Allen and a few youngsters to leave or already having left, we've got masses of cash to spend this summer but everything appears very quiet on the arrivals side of things though. The Polish lad, whose name I won't learn until he actually signs, goes from being nailed on to completely off every other day and there's seemingly been no progress made with the young Leicester LB or Dahoud, nor any serious links with any other players.

A defence being poor and strikers being rubbish means you won't concede that many. Half the league was dire last year, that doesn't mean our defence was good. The bigger issue is our defenders ages. Monreal is 31 in Feb, Mert turns 32 in Sept, Kos turns 31 in Sept. Paulista has shown absolutely nothing at all in terms of being good enough to take over, Mert is regressing pretty badly now and a better stronger league with better managers and better strikers will take advantage of all the mistakes he made.

We can either replace these guys all in one go three years from now and struggle for a season or two with a defence with no partnerships or experience playing together or we start planning for their departures now. Blend in a new defender or two this year. Monreal is a decent player but not brilliant, people are over rating him because Gibbs is just an awful player and Monreal is clearly better. I think Monreal would make a good rotation/back up LB for a few years, bring in a starting LB with more attacking threat, and either a starting CB or a couple younger CB/fullbacks to get some game time, rotation and try and protect Bellerin/Kos from being played too often.

Goalkeeper as well really, Cech is 34, he had a bad head injury and aged quicker than most GKs seem to, he's a player I can't see being around till he's 37-38 and might only have a year or two left with us.

Now there are rumours that Ter Stegen is being promised first team starting in all competitions meaning they are putting their eggs in his basket.... Bravo is a truly excellent keeper, has been excellent for them and we should absolutely go for him if that is the situation. He's 33 but seems fitter, no major injuries I can recall and has been brilliant for the past 5 years. I'd say we'll get another 5 years out of him as he's just turned 33 and I think he's better than Cech currently.
