Do you kiss your child on the lips?

Just come back from an evening meal and on leaving:
29 year old daughter kissed me on the lips
27 year old daughter kissed me on the lips
Sister In Law kissed me on the lips
32 year old Nephew kissed me on the lips
His wife kissed me on the lips
Their 3 year old daughter kissed me on the lips
Their 5 year old Son kissed me on the cheek

What a perverted family we are

Sounds like a Lannister family reunion.

Do you kiss your child on the lips?

Yep. I have a daughter (7) and a son (5). I kiss them both on the lips.

What I cannot ever imagine doing, is castigating another parent for kissing their child on the lips, even if I thought it was odd (which I don't). Another to the list of 'people I don't agree with that social media has given a voice to' :p.

^^ This.

I tend to smooch my daughter's pudgy cheeks and nose, but I don't see any reason why it would be weird to kiss your kid on the lips unless you were making out with them.

Do you live in Norfolk

people literally need to mind their own business.

the fact that it's so easy to bitch about things has resulted in this cry baby society nowadays that end up crying about everything!

If I had kissed my dad on the lips I would have burnt myself on his fag, and he'd have had words with my mother about how she was bringing me up. A brief curt nod in the morning, maybe a hand shake at Christmas and birthdays. All this talk of swapping spit with toddlers is concerning ;) And if some bint I barely know gives it the Hollywood thing with presenting her over made up cheeks she gets short shrift.

I think I should have been born in Edwardian times....

I've seen far too many children die in my lifetime to do anything other than hug and kiss (even on the lips) my daughter at every possible opportunity.

Life is far too fragile to hold back.

I don't have kids but my nieces and nephews both kiss me on the lips. I was at a friends house recently and their two daughters (aged 4 and 2) both kissed me on the lips to say goodbye. Nothing sexual in it, and nothing wrong with it. For kids especially it's just a sign of affection, so why would anyone refuse something that would make a child feel loved and cared for? Bizarre that this is even an issue.

If you ever kissed your mother or father again at only 5 years old then that is quite frankly a tragic story of emotional repression.

Hmm. I don't have children but somehow I doubt most children long to be kissed by their parents on the lips specifically lol, and the lack of lip contact absolutely does not assume any sort of repression, but thanks for telling us what you longed for :p. I mean do you actively seek lip contact just because it's lip contact? or are you simply looking for affection? Because there are literally many other possible physical forms of affection/bonding which are far more powerful than smooching on the lips.

Displays of affection are subjective, I'm not saying kissing is bad and if it's affection for both of you than that is great! The most amazing physical bonding as a child personally was just cuddling up to my mum and then she'd just start looking through my hair for potential nits this could last for over half an hour or until I fell asleep.

So yeah there are loads of better ways of bonding and It is very unlikely that the lack of lip-lip contact with your child is the line after which the child becomes somehow emotionally repressed. I mean just look at the animal kingdom. Even though the mouth is vital tool in social grooming you almost never see mouth-to-mouth.

Holy crap this is so mentally and emotionally backwards I cannot even begin to describe it. It is the worst kind of sexual repression, the kind that makes some people do bad things.

How is not actively seeking to kiss your children on the lips sexual repression?

What an absolute load of utter cack, of course its bloody normal to kiss your child on the lips at that age.

Precisely.
The only reason to avoid a kiss on th lips at that age is if you have an active weeping cold sore, that virus spreads rather easily, but by four or five they probably have it anyway, just hopefully the dormant version.
