Summer Transfer Window 2016/17 - Rumours & Signings

Skrtel (£5.5m) and Ibe (£15m) are both expected to complete their moves away from Liverpool in the next day or so. Like I said the other day, with Benteke, Allen and a few youngsters to leave or already having left, we've got masses of cash to spend this summer but everything appears very quiet on the arrivals side of things though. The Polish lad, whose name I won't learn until he actually signs, goes from being nailed on to completely off every other day and there's seemingly been no progress made with the young Leicester LB or Dahoud, nor any serious links with any other players.

You've missed the fact that we may be signing Alex Manninger...

lol yea I did actually. With Bogdan being shipped out and Ward going on loan, we needed a 3rd keeper just in case so I see no harm in that if it happens.

Following my post above though Canos looks set to sign for Norwich for an initial £2.5m with a further £2m in add-ons. Like with Ibe, we've reportedly got both a buy back and a sell-on clause on him.

Also and it's no surprise, Klopp's confirmed that he's told Balotelli that he needs to find a new club. Hopefully one of those mega rich Chinese clubs decide they want a laugh.

BaZ what is your opinion on the Jordan Ibe transfer. I thought he was tipped to become a breakthrough player for Liverpool ?

There's always been comparrisons between him and Sterling and imo, Ibe's got more to his game physically and possibly even technically but there's one key difference - Sterling (despite the hate I'm still conviced Sterling will be a star) knows how to use his ability where as I'm not sure Ibe does or ever will.

When he first came back from loan and got into our side he started really well. He was playing as a wing back and he was having a field day picking the ball up deep in our half with acres to run into - he'd charging at the opposition full back 1v1 and beating them time and time again. That was never a long term thing though - not only wouldn't we play with wing backs often but teams would eventually learn to press him higher up the pitch and not allow him space to run into. As soon as he then started playing in a more attacking position, he didn't have the acres of space to run into and he couldn't figure out what to do. There would be occasions where he'd still skin the fullback but more often than not he'd just run into them or run up a blind alley.

The sale makes sense. He needs to play regularly to learn his game and he's not going to get that with us until he's already learnt it. We're getting a decent fee for him and we've got the option to buy him back if we want or take a slice of the profit if he's ever sold on by Bournemouth in the future.

edit: Ibe's a bit like Balotelli minus the madness and attitude. Balotelli's got all the ability in the world and while his attitude and application doesn't help, I'm convinced his biggest problem is just a simple lack of game intelligence. You look at an Ibe or Balotelli and compare them to players like a Carragher or Neville, who had limited ability but knew the game and knew how to make the most of what they had.

The buy back option is key there, it's great business really. You get 15m up front and the potential for buying a very very good player back in the future. Win win for Liverpool

I'd be surprised if Leicester sold Chilwell to Liverpool. He's highly rated and looked pretty good when he started cup games last season. Fuchs is clearly our first choice LB but we'll be playing more games this year so Chilwell should see a bit more game time hopefully. Then in a year or so he may have jumped ahead of Fuchs by then.

Isn't Sanchez on his way out? Draxler could be a replacement and there'd definitely need to be one - as well as a CB who is a leader and a 35+ goal a season man up top.

Sanchez isn't leaving, juve bid for him at less than we paid which got rejected. No surprise.

I would be happy with a cb, another midfielder (purely down to number of injuries we get) with a lot of players leaving in that position.

Then we just need to splash the cash on a finisher. With passes coming from ozil, Wiltshire, etc they should easily get 30 goals.

So Napoli want £80mill for Higuain.

Lol so that Arsenal out of that signing, not that I believed for a second it would happen.

Now onto the yearly Benzema rumours and we have game, set and match lol.

That seems a little more likely than the €20m being suggested as his buyout. Matic to leave I assume?

If he does I hope it's abroad and he doesn't go join Mourinho. He's what they've been missing for years and has been great to see.

Transfer market has gone crazy. But it's the Premier League and the silly TV money that's on offer that's to blame. Foreign clubs just double the price when English clubs come calling.

I saw West Ham think Payet is worth £100m.

Madness

They would clearly sell him for less that is just a fan friendly media story to try and demonstrate that he is going nowhere! If a decent club come in with 30-40m and most importantly Payet wants to go then he will be sold.

Clubs are putting these prices on players because they don't want them to leave.

Do West Ham think Payet is really worth £100m? Of course they don't. If you came in with an offer of £30m and the player wanted to leave they'd take it, offer £60m and Gold will personally drive him to your training ground wrapped in bubble wrap. The £100m price tag is bandied about to attempt to deter interest, no club in the world is going to pay a figure anything like that for Payet.

The same with Higuain, the guy has had a fantastic season, and has a couple of years at his peak left. Napoli don't want to lose him, but he only has 2 years left on his contract there and reportedly wants out. If you offer them £50m for him you put them in a situation where its lose the player but gain £50m today, or potentially lose him for nothing in 2 years time. I reckon an offer of £50m would be enough to do it if the player were also to state his desire to leave.

Le Parisien reporting the Chelsea to agree a €35m fee with Leicester for Kante:

http://www.leparisien.fr/sports/n-golo-kante-vers-chelsea-13-07-2016-5962829.php#xtor=AD-1481423553

Sky Sports are contradicting this, and also saying that Leicester have offered him another improved contract:

Reports in France say that Chelsea have agreed a fee of £29m with Leicester for Kante to join Antonio Conte's side, but we understand that ISN'T the case.

Pleased that it seems the club are trying hard to keep him, not holding out much hope though!
