No I'm saying in 3 years even if he plays well he won't as you stated pay back in no time all. I don't believe he will add one hundred million in extra revenue. United would pay it because they can afford it, but I don't for one minute believe it will increase revenue to cover that over 3 years due to him.

Never said he'd pay it back for his club in 3 years, I said if he continues to perform as he has done for his club the past 3 years, during his time at Juventus.

That 100m fee, euro or pounds, will be paid back in no time at all if he continues to perform as he has done for his club the past 3 years.

Yeah actually you didn't, you said no time at all :) Is no time at all longer or shorter than 3 years? :D

Reported in excess of 50m being offered for Stones from City. Not good enough for the England back four, barely good enough for Everton. A liability that has everyone on edge but supposedly worth 50m because he can pass the ball 12 yards and is English. An incredibly poor man's Rio Ferdinand.

If Everton want to save on taxi fare, if they pay over 50M I will piggy back him there! He plays like a 17 year old not someone who is 22. What would John Terry at 22 be worth in todays market!

When he was 22 Rio became the world's most expensive defender when he moved to Leeds United, John Stones also 22 is about to become the current world's most expensive defender when he moves to City if it's even slightly over £50m.

Not comparing their abilities, just thought it was a fun fact :)

From Leeds surely?

Apparently Higuain turned down an offer from a Chinese team for ... £800k per week.

Even @ 1/2 that amount its truelly insane

By next summer there will be offers for £1m /week surely (with the Chinese league still growing exponentially as it is)

Has there really been such sudden growth in the popularity of football in China to fund these kind of transfer fees / monthly wages?

Seems insane to me for a country which is the most for the most part poor (albeit with a very high population of the mega rich) to be able to fund these kind of fees.

Unless its just a few billionaires battling it out to see who can build the best team.

Plenty of players will go to China for the money but they will be killing their careers for a big pay day. It makes sense if you are near the end of your career and not a fixture of your national team but otherwise no players of note will go there.

Top players want CL, meaningful domestic titles and to play for their country. China will end up like an extreme version of the French league within a few years. The smaller sides will get battered by the few at the top and those teams will never do well in the larger football world because they never have to play well to win their domestic league.

I'd compare their abilities. One was playing extremely well and the other looks like the worst defender in Evertons back four and couldn't even get a run out in the worst England back four I have probably ever seen. Not because he doesn't have this potential but because they were scared of what kind of bat **** crazy sloppy move he would pull next.

If Stones is worth 50m at 22 and not even the 10th best defender in the league, Rio would have been worth £150m in todays market :D

Everyone "knew" Rio was the real deal. The jury is still out on Stones.

Rio was the third choice central defender at Leeds :)

We tried playing three at the back and were pumped inside 20 minutes by a Leicester side that were woeful that season.

Radebe and Woodgate were far and away our strongest pairing at the time, but of course Rio was a capable replacement, especially with Radebe getting older and having some problems with his knees meaning he couldn't train all the time. A bit like Ledley King was later in his career.

Radebe himself would have been the world's most expensive defender if an earlier deal had gone through but he didn't want to leave.
