ignore the decor, hallway hasnt been decorated yet:p

Chair looks great, no marks anywhere other then the printed instructions beneath the air rests being a bit worn. however, the seat edge adjustment isnt working and the sliders for the lumbar support are missing, so i'm going to get on to 2ndhnd.com and see what they can do about it. besides that, im impressed with the working bits. lol.

Hmm, so 2 people in the thread have used 2ndhnd and both had problems/bits missing. I will be interested to know if they sort it out as I was tempted to get one. Does look very good from the pic.

The sliding lumbar is on the V2 only plus it's an optional extra, there's a knob next to the right arm that adjusts the lumbar. Same goes for the edge adjustment if your talking about the lip going up and down, it was added on the V2 yet on the V1 it should have like edged grooves that allow the edge to adjust to your position there's no manual adjustment for that. If your talking about the butt pan going back and forth you have to buy the "sliding" version.

The only problem I had with the first one was the spring in one of the arm releases had got stuck so couldn't adjust the height of the arm. They got a replacement chair out within a few days and then collected the faulty one on the day I asked. The second chair just had a missing bolt which I still have not got round to fixing but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the chair. Forgetting the issue with the first one they were both in good condition for what is roughly a 13 year old chair. I did pay extra for a sliding version with a new chrome base so that's one thing that couldn't be in bad condition.

According to the printed instructions i should be able to adjust the lumbar height. The knob adjusts firmness and that works fine :)

Nope, i have a flappy paddle but as I mentioned it doesnt work. The edge will fall back to the lowest setting unless i hold the paddle down.

Yep, that's what i've got :) Not talking about the seat sliding back and forth though, that works fine.

Your's is pretty different to mine it seems.

I have the same diagram as you on the left arm but I don't have a lumbar slider either (never even noticed that diagram before).

I don't have that lip adjustment paddle like you do (never realised that was added to the V1 one), I did ask about that too and they said it's new on the V2.

*Edit* Really does seem like a gamble when buying these as to what you actually get as none of those features were mentioned on eBay or over the phone. I suppose some of the ones they buy in bulk have optional extras.

I am a fairly large 6'4" guy, and when I was still living in the UK, I wanted a new office chair. I went to a specialist furniture store and tried all of the Steelcase offerings, a few Ergohumans, and some Herman Millers. A few weeks later, I tried my housemate's RH Logic 400 (high back) chair, and it was sooooo comfortable. Not cheap at around £1000 for a new chair, but so, so good.

I looked to buy an RH Logic when I got to the USA, but there seems to be no importers for them. If I had known that, I would have potentially bought one in the UK and shipped it over. Sad. :(

I have to make something clear; Even with my seat edge adjustment not working, this leap is by FAR the most comfortable chair i've sat in. It's in a different league to the markus but then looking at the original RRP it really ought to be. The Markus has no adjustable lumbar support at all and IMO the sliding seat on this leap is crucial. I'm 5'10 so not tall, but i have the seat fairly far forwards. Cant do that on the markus and from memory the seat base is isn't the deepest - i think you'll struggle being 6'4.

Sit in a markus and see if it's right for you or not, if it isn't i think you could do far worse than take a punt on a 2nd hand leap or something similar. What you don't get when buying a reconditioned leap from places like 2ndhnd firstly is choice - you can only buy what they can get in and recondition so optional extras / fabric choices are very limited - and secondly the warranty support - its basically 12 months and that's your lot. But even so, i believe it's worth it.

confuddling indeed. It seems the only way i know mine is a v1 is because i have the rounded arm rests - v2s are a lot flatter. It's a gamble as you say - you're limited to what they have in stock at the time. I did notice however that 2ndhnd list the leap and leap with sliding base separately - glad i went with the latter :) Haven't contacted them regarding the seat lip yet, will do that later today.

This was one of the threads I referenced when looking for an new office chair and wanted to add my thoughts on things.

I had a crappy chair from staples:
http://www.staples.co.uk/darcy-leather-faced-executive-chair/cbs/397861.html

The seat is quite deep and the backs of my legs touched the edge if I sat far enough back to get any sort of benefit from that arch. That arch is also mostly padding and doesn't offer any real support.
Eventually this played havoc with my back so it was time to find a new chair.

I looked at the RS Pro Ontario:
http://www.viking-direct.co.uk/a/pb/RS-Pro-Ontario-office-chair-in-black/id=5019863/

They were OOS when I went to order and that's probably a good thing because I kept looking and got put on to the world of refurbished chairs.

Like you I went to 2ndHnd and took a chance on the Leap V2 and it's really a different league in terms of support. In some ways it's less comfortable than the chair it replaces but all that padding wasn't doing me any favours.
The leap encourages you to sit properly and really supports your body. I was changing position every five to ten minutes in the old chair (through discomfort) and it made me tilt my pelvis forward causing an outward curve in my lumbar.
There's none of that with the Leap, even being able to set the armrest height is a minor revelation, I'm actually able to sit in a natural position that fits my body. I've been told I have a bony ass and even though the padding is a lot thinner and it's a second hand chair there's no discomfort and I no longer creak and crack when I get up.

So for anyone considering upgrading to an ergonomic chair I'll add my support to the leap.

As for 2ndHnd, the guy is curt but helpful and responsive and the chair itself is immaculate (bar the bottom section with the wheels, minor scratches all over). This V2 was meant to come with the lumbar support which was missing. It arrived today, 2 working days later.

Sub £300 for a chair that could last years is worth every penny, life is too short to be uncomfortable every day ;)
