What brand GTX 1070 to get?

Cheers for the replies guys!

I am now stuck between getting one of these...

Zotac AMP Extreme Looks great, 2X 8 pin connections, loads of cooling and a vented back plate. 5 year warrenty! Can't knock it.

MSI Gaming X Same as the Zotac but only 3 years warrenty and 1x 6pin and 1x 8pin connector? Lower clocks than the Zotac.

Gigabyte G1 Only one 8 pin connection? Non vented backplate... But same brand as my Mobo.

I am steering towards the Zotac if Im honest.....

More than 8 pins is only marketing :) (which apparently works).

Cheers for the replies guys! Would the extra 8pin not allow for more power draw?

It would, but the 1070 doesn't need more power.

No matter which 1070 you get, the maximum clocks you're looking at are ~2.1 GHz core boost and ~9500 MHz memory.

At the current prices I'd go for the Zotac.

I went for the Palit Super Jetstream and am VERY happy with it. 2.08 GHz boost and 9000 MHz memory (and I just haven't tried any higher) while being completely inaudible. However that was when there was a £30 difference between it and the Zotac. At the same price go for the Zotac.

Just put my Zotac amp extreme in, boosts to 2100 out the box without me touching it. Still to clock the memory if I can be bothered.

The card itself is an absolute beast, best built card I have owned. I got it for a steal compared to todays prices, but I would still recommend it, plus the 5 year warranty is a mjor plus factor.

From experience, anything Taiwanese made is generally higher quality. I'll let you look up the different brand HQs ;)

I've moved from MSI to EVGA yet I don't see a single person speaking about EVGA in terms of purchase! Hope it's alright.

I took a bit of a random punt. Someone mentioned they were the Nvidia equivalent of Sapphire, so I thought "why not?".

It's being imported because I got gifted a wadge of non-transferable Amazon.com cards. It's the SC version.

Mine does 2083ish with it's 6 pin and 4 phase? Power.

I think it's all meaningless currently and purely designed to make you feel better about buying.

A year of warranty with its associated resale value is worth much more to me than that power stuff.

In theory yes, but don't get your hopes up.

The 1070 seems to be limited to 2.1 GHz core boost and 9500 memory (or thereabouts) no matter what you do to it.
