Nukes are the most pointless thing in the world. Imo having a nuke puis you top of the list to be nuked.
Who has them, USA, russia, us, france etc. Who are the mostly likely people to get nuked, without a doubt those country.
No one goes, owww I definetly feel like nuking Italy today or Norway.

Waste of money we could be using to improve the world not willy wave at it.

The US has no control over our use Trident. The launch control is exclusively in our hands and the guidance systems do not rely on GPS as our enemies would almost certainly destroy those satellites immediately anyway.

Politically both true and false - generally we wouldn't go ahead without political agreement of the US but in extremes that would go out the window. While the US could disable the GPS system I believe our upgraded delivery system is "dual sighted" and not 100% reliant on it.

If trident ever has to be used, then it has failed its purpose.

The fact that its in need of refresh suggests to me that it has succeeded in its purpose and that such success demands a replacement.

As mentioned to convincingly bluff it so as to fool foreign intelligence services wouldn't save any money over actually having it.

Has anyone pointed out that it's the Vanguard class submarines that are the Trident launch platforms that need replacing and not the Trident missiles?

Think so - was also pointed out in the debate in the commons but ultimately it more or less decides the same thing as far as the next few decades go as one follows the other potentially.
