Summer Transfer Window 2016/17 - Rumours & Signings

Front pages of most of the Italian sports papers are saying Pogba has asked to leave Juventus to join us, etc.

Woodward hasn't gone on tour either (though really that means very little). Speculation it's so he can complete the deal.

No thanks, keep Lucas. Rather have a consistently good player than a potentially great player that blows hot and cold.

Have to disagree Lucas has been so so for 2 seasons now, has a great match and then can just nose dive in performance the next, granted he did good at filling in at CB season just gone when he had to.

Mahrez would be a great signing for any of the big boys in the league. Very talented and doesn't seem to have a huge ego and he works hard.

Looks like we're €19m apart from doing a deal, given the size of the fee, I can't see that holding it up long term.

It's going to be somewhere in the region of £100m.

Footballers are worth whatever fee their club can get for them, ridiculous or not.

Indeed, I'm quite happy for us to blow £100m on Pogba and I know the club can afford it, so I'm not worried about the fee.

It's a similar sort of deal to Martial and even Shaw, just considerably more because of the status of the player and other clubs interested in him.

Good for someone to beat Real Madrid for a change, too.

It will be interesting how he fairs coming from the slow nature of Serie A to the PL. He looked way off the pace at times at the Euro's, always thought he had more time than he actually did. 100m though, mental.

No one really performed that well in the Euros so that isnt much to go on - although I would agree he was trying to do too much (but also perhaps playing a slightly deeper role than Utd / JM might want to use him in)

Given the few games he has missed for Juve in 4 seasons, it will be nice to have a player actually available for huge % of games.

Can see this going to nearer £120m + fees , it will be very interesting to see how he performes (if /when deal gets completed) in a tougher league, and while he might take a bit of time to get accclimbatized, I cant see Utd's central midfield being such a walk through as has been the case for last few seasons

United will make a lot of money from Pogba's marketing. After he becomes the world's most expensive player playing in the EPL he will attract lots of sponsors for United and himself and of course United will have about 50% of his image rights.

He's worth about £50 million as a footballer right now but with his potential and marketability it will be a good move for United in the long term.

Eh? A player's value is governed by the market; the selling, and buying club (and his contract).

You can think that he is 'worth' less or more; ala a bargain (Suarez @ Liverpool, Kante @ Leicester, Marhez @ Leicester) or over price (Carroll @ Liverpool, Torres @ Chelsea, Failaini @ Manchester United) but that's got no actual bearing on anything.

Don't get me wrong, v happy about pogba but still feel we are missing a player or two after him

We are but that will be something to address in the summer barring any Mourinho related catastrophe. If we get top 4 this season then I think we will push for the title next year. This really should be the most exciting PL for a long time. Im sure that one of the big teams will underperform again this season but 3 of the usual top 4 have top class new managers and have a point to prove after a rubbish year.
