With Pogba, we aren't buying the finished article. We're buying his potential, we're buying the assumption that when he's in his prime, he'll be the best midfielder in the world. Will he be? Time will tell.

In terms of our finances, it's roughly the same situation as when we bought Rio. I think most fans would happily do that again.

That just goes to show how expensive Ferdinand was.

Anyway, Bogdan has been shipped off on loan to Wigan. With Ward joining Huddlersfield on loan too, the old Arsenal keeper Alex Manninger has been training with us and could possibly be signed on a short term deal as our 3rd keeper.

He's a keeper and I wasn't being entirely serious ;)

You can't judge a midfield player's value on how many goals he scores. Graeme Souness is Liverpool's greatest ever midfielder and quite possibly the best midfielder to play in England in the last 40 years and the most he ever scored in a season was 13 goals.

Hahahahaha fail, I didn't read the name and thought it was our new Croation defender.

You're paying a finished article price, though, given the 'price Real out of the market' premium...

Indeed, and therefore it's a bigger gamble than most.

However, looking at the prices/offers made for various players globally, the fee isn't quite as crazy as it first appears. As ever it will all depend on how well he does, there could be a mountain of pressure piled on him very quickly if he doesn't perform.

its the potential, in 3 or 4 years Messi and Ronaldo will be gone and Pogba has a very good chance of being the best player on the planet by then, his potential is massive, he can literally do everything on a pitch, no weak areas.

I highly doubt that to be honest but who knows.

Surely there are 2 x 50m men that will beenfit Man U more?

Boro target Subotic has suffered a long term, season ending injury. :(

That's disappointing, sounds like the medical has revealed something pretty serious that requires surgery. He suffered a deep vein thrombosis last year and early reports are he requires chest surgery. Doesn't sound good.

Not a good portrayal of German Healthcare.

Lol who's going to want a Paul Pogba shirt? The top 3 are all players who you know, score goals and win thing for their teams...

If we were signing allessandro deal piero then yes we'd make back tens of millions.. Of course Pogba will sell some shirts, any new high profile player signing for Utd will but do you think he will turn a profit from it?

It's a farcical case of wanting what you cannot have and the heart ruling the head.

Who cares? Would you rather the Glazers took it out and bought themselves a new yacht? We're loaded, we might as well spend it on players. As usual, you're never happy with the players we buy or have but you have no suggestions otherwise.

Let's see what Pogba has got in a more competitive league, looked out of his depth at the Euros albeit not playing in his supposed natural position.

Jury is out for me, granted i've not watched every Juve game over the past couple of years but whenever i've seen him play i've expected big things and more often than not been disappointed. Overrated.

It's a statement signing if anything, new era with Mourinho. Must hurt though considering they had him and let him walk for nothing.

He has potential, whether he lives up to it is another story. His showing with France was disappointing.

I'm excited about it. Of course it's a risk and of course it's a lot of money I'm just happy the money is being spent on players rather than siphoned away from the club.

You've got to trust the manager/dof/whoever with these decisions because quite rightly they will live or die by them.

It's good but I don't like the fact we sold him for 800k. That's not what matters though is it as long as he performs but it should be about more than that.

At least we're finally signing quality players I guess, thanks to Mourinho.

Onwards and upwards anything less than 1st will be a failure now with the players we've signed.

It's a statement signing if anything

what statement's that then? we're buying the player we deemed surplus to requirements back for £100m

the only statement that makes is that united are good at getting their pant pulled down when it comes to purchasing

At the time Pogba wanted more first team football we couldn't give him and he didn't want to be loaned out, Everyone could see he had unbelievable potential and allot of us new it was going to turn out a big mistake.

Spend 200mil on him for all i care, it has no effect on me in the slightest, We just bought, if true, Easily one of the best central midfielders in the world at 23, That's a statement of intent.
