Di Marzio saying Real Madrid have come in at the last minute, but Pogba has a deal with us now.

Those steadfast serie A defences? It's currently a one team league. Ac and inter and nowhere, maldini and Baresi are long retired. Sorry to burst that bubble.

Shami i would look to buy draxler and Sissoko, bank the remaining 50 million.

Truth is Pogba is overrated. Doesn't really fit as either attacking or defensive and is a master of none. Watch him play against top teams at the euros. It's pretty clear.

It is disappointing I was really looking forward to him coming but it seems from reading around, he's been quite lucky it was found. Rumours on the boro forum and the local paper suggest it might be cardio related. He needs immediate surgery and is out for the season.

I hope he's ok and it doesn't threaten the remainder of his career.

it's not our place to come up with replacements just because we think the fee is bonkers, which it is. it is a true reflection of the tv revenue, movements in advertising since bale went for crazy money but bale now seems decent value and suarez seems a bargain.

can pogba live up to those two? if he's not going to bring you goals, what is he going to bring you? silly money imo for a player who isn't going to be a game changer.

The market is insane. If we can afford to join it then it's better than just doing nothing and staying where we are, or worst yet, buying cheaper players that don't improve us and just leave us in the same place. For years our weakness has been our poor midfield (well and managers) so if Pogba can improve us there, even if he doesn't get 50 goals a season he is still worth it.

Sure ideally we'd spend £5m on some unknown who turns out to be world class but finding those is easier said than done. Right now we need a top player, who is not at a club that won't sell, and wants to move to a club not in Europe. It's not a huge list.

You know what he's like, don't do it to yourself. :p I will say this though, in short, if you can afford a supercar, you don't buy 5 average cars instead, you go for the best. That's what our money is for, we can and should just blow teams out of the water if we want to.

I keep saying Draxler isn't a central midfielder. He's a wide forward most of the time. He doesn't fill in the 2 in the 4-2-3-1 that Jose seems to want us to play. He mostly plays where we're playing Martial, why would we need another person there?

And Sissoko...

When Newcastle were relegated were top clubs rushing to buy him? Were fans distraught that they wouldn't be able to hold onto their world class midfielder? No they weren't. He's so far from good enough for a top side in the league.

It's fortunate that the players we were targeting weren't involved in the Euros. Well except Ibra, but him being unattached made that easier.

Then of course there is the fact that we finished well below our target and have a new manager, of course we're going to be doing more business than a club that has the same manager and achieved it's target.

Bubble? I have no affinity for either the Italian league or Paul Pogba.

You asked what he was world class at, that's what he's proved so far.
