wijlnaldum couldn't get out of Newcastle any faster could he, already having a medical at Liverpool literally a few hours after the fee being agreed (its not deadline day)

25mill for Wine Gum?

Yes please!

Went missing for 90% of last season, maybe he'll get on better in a team that can afford a luxury player (perhaps as sub?) but getting 25mill for him, over 10mill profit, a year after an average season is fantastic business. Hopefully we'll re-invest a little!

I'm quietly confident a lot of the issues Wijlnaldum is supposed to have had at Newcastle won't happen with us. It sounds like he's a player that will play better with better players around him which will be the case at Liverpool and if there's a manager in the world that gets players to play for him and won't tolerate players going missing, it's Klopp.

No but Liverpool flew out on their tour of the US this morning and the club want him to join up straight away, before the first game out there.

Think im the only Liverpool supporter who thinks Wijanldum could be an epic fail :/ However he is clearly joining us so will get support and give him benefit of doubt.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Gotze has moved back to Dortmund. So much for wanting to fight for his place at Bayern.

Depends whether he got the same shift work contract he had at Newcastle, 1 day on 5 days off.

We're only going to be playing once per week so that's fine with me.

edit: and it turns out his medical isn't until tomorrow. Fee is £23m possibly rising to £25m:

Bit of a shame that Petrov isn't being offered a contract at Villa but i can understand it at the same time, even without having fought cancer he's still 37. Hopefully they or even better Celtic offer him a position on the staff.

Bah, i thought it looked funny when i wrote it, should have said weeks :)

Mind you, on the plus side, he scored 11 goals last season. So if he can score 11 whilst going missing 90% of the time, even if we only manage to reduce that to him going missing 80% of the time, it would still mean 22 goals for the season. Which would be good and imagine if we could reduce it to lower than that, would be an even better goal return !

Felliani scored 11 for Everton despite going missing 90% of the time, I see this being a similar signing where the sellers can't believe they have turned a profit.

I'm not too fussed about who he's scored against, the fact he's a goalscorer is all that matters. I think it's pretty clear that we've made a conscious effort to add more goals to our side with the signings of Mane and Wijlnaldum.

Had every club not been given an extra £50m then he'd have still been a £15m player. They've made a profit because of the TV deal and because of the TV deal every player they sign will cost them 30-40% more too.

Doubtful beause the release clause was still laughably that high, so extra tv money or not they would have still paid it to get him. So what you are saying is at least United had an excuse for paying over the top for a bang average player because the tv money funded it where are Liverpool are just paying over the odds?:p

Huh? I was talking specifically about us signing Wijnaldum. £15m last summer is £25m now thats the only reason they've made a profit and that profit will disappear when they sign players as the players they'll sign will cost more too.
