Hi I am about ready to pull the trigger on a £299 fury, but only have a CORSAIR BUILDER SERIES CX 600W V2 '80 PSU.
Will that be sufficient?

Full spec

I5 6400
Z170S Sabertooth
8GB Crucial Ballistix RAM
120GB SSD
1TB HDD
Alpenföhn Brocken 2 CPU Cooler
A 140mm and 3 120mm case fans.

Thanks

I was in exactly the same bought until my purchase of a Fury Nitro fell through. Would love to know what it takes to power this little beasty. (It will need two 8 pins though btw, so that it one minimum requirement right there. It 'may' work with 6 pin, but no overclocking).

The CX600 isn't a great PSU, but with no overclocking you should be fine. There is no way that your system will draw the maximum 480W on the 12V rail.

I regret trying to keep to a budget when building the system. I went for a cheap weak PSU thinking I won't need much, a low end gpu as I was just looking to hit 60fps on medium settings in overwatch...
Should have gone all in

Replace that psu, it's rubbish. The CX600 v2 is a very poor psu. It's doesn't have anywhere near 600w on the 12v rail and is only capable of 480w and that's rated at a pathetic 30 degrees C. Most psu's are rated at 40 degrees or even 50 degrees for the best ones. Couple the weak 12v rail with poor quality internals and you have a recipe for disaster.

How do you reckon that? The CX600M is better than the CX600 v2, it has a stronger 12v rail of 552w and at least it's bronze rated. It's still a low quality psu and only rated at 30 degree's C though it will suffice for your needs.

Yeah I just read a pretty I depth review and they stated it was stable at 40C but didn't test prolonged use at 40C.

Hmm. If I picked up the Fury now while the deal is on, with the intention of replacing the PSU in the near future do you think that'd be safe or should I just sack it up and replace it now?

How is this one? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/supe...0-plus-gold-power-supply-black-ca-014-sf.html

I think it would be fine for the time being seeing it's the CX600M and not the v2. You are not going to hit 552w with the Fury. If you did choose to replace it now then that Superflower you selected is a very good unit. It has 649w on a single 12v rail and is rated for that at the normal 50 degrees C. It has a selectable "Eco" fan mode where the fan only spins up at a certain load/temp. Just be aware that where you plug the cables in there are bright white led's and they can't be turned off. For a 650w psu it's also very long at 200mm in length. There is a review here.

I've ordered up the PSU and the card. My PSU is out of sight so the LEDs won't make any difference to me, sadly. there's plenty of room down there though.

Hopefully I can shift that CX600M and my 960 Strix on ebay and get a bit of cash back...
