Service man fights off two armed attackers

You don't need to stop posting. Everyone has an opinion, just voice your own and listen to theirs. You can agree to disagree but don't resort to bickering and insults because it lowers the tone.

On topic: how do they know it was a suspected kidnap? Did someone appear with a giant rope and a Acme blindfold shouting "get in the van"? :D

No, they threatened him at knife point before trying to grapple him into the van.

I was thinking that earlier but got side tracked :) I like your scenario.

An RAF serviceman has told police how he fought off a knife-wielding kidnapper who attempted to drag him into a car in what detectives fear may have been a pre-planned terror plot.

There's your answer.

As stated earlier this isn't the first time this has been planned. I just hope armed forces and the police are all given adequate awareness and take it on board.

This could very well have turned into something more.

Hopefully more information will be released/reported.

Not a problem. Can you remove the below post though as he is implying he asked a question earlier that has an answer, it clearly does not and that is when the main bickering started.

It's obviously a good thing that they were incompetent abductors, I hate to think what would have happened otherwise. It goes to show what is in the minds of some evil people in this country right now. It's too easy to team up on somebody and lock them in the back of a van etc.

Do you know tomorrows winning euro millions number too?

You realise that your angst is wasted as the probability is he is right? Everyone of these threads follows the same route. Bigots dive in, liberals dive in, rationale people debate but we usually end up with some people who want to cause the west pain from Africa or the middle east, who claim to be followers of Islam or ISIS sympathisers working with others are the route cause. I understand your anger at such comments, but it's trying to wind people in who are most likely spot on.

Because they had different skin? Maybe it's some guys he annoyed in town one night. No one knows what he is implying.

Anyway I'll stop there as I went straight for the quote button and missed all the mod warnings.

I have no idea what is point was but to be clear my point was it will be people who associate themselves with ISIS I suspect and you know what, they are most likely to be from Africa or the Middle East. Statement of fact, sadly. :(

Yes. The majority of Islamic terrorists happen to be of Middle Eastern origin, so skin colour is a defining factor in the assumption that they are indeed Islamic terrorists. Were they white then logically you would assume they had other motives

On the location of where this happened (as is explained on the news) it was on the married patch of the camp. The married patch is outside the wire of the main Base, which is immediately in front of the main gate. These houses are all military and there is no restriction to public access. The village of Marham itself is some distance from the camp.

Essentially, if someone is headed to the married patch to kidnap a person, it is not a random kidnapping. It is an attack focused specifically at a serviceman and to go to this location it is quite a drive out "off the beaten track" to get to there.

Given the Lee Rigby tragedy, I'm surprised an event/copy cat hasn't occurred sooner than now to be honest.

Can I ask you to prove that :D

Apparently they tried to bundle him in to a car, but he punched one to the ground and then they ran off. Should have broke his neck while he was down tbh.

Apparently that couldn't have happened because he's RAF and all RAF are nonces :p Needless to say, no one has stated he was in the RAF. Could have been Navy, army or booty.
