I hope Hammond isn't as easily impressed as Georgy was.What we all ways do, a large tub of scented lube whilst simultaneously turning round, dropping trousers, & bending over.

What really irks is that the majority of leavers had no financial stake in the UK economy according to the Ashcroft poll. What difference will it make to them therefore whether the economy goes breasts up or not?
How can it be right that a section of British society that had no financial stake in said society voted to take us out of the EU and land the country and possibly the world in a global recession which could lead to enormous social unrest.
The POLL makes striking reading.

I hear what you are saying re: an election, but what would be the point? All that would happen is the that Labour would be wiped clean of the electoral map and the conservatives returned with a thumping majority. With no effective opposition post election (even less than now) how would this serve democracy?

It would be a mistake to hold one before the Labour party have got their house in order. The situation should resolve itself soon, so I would like to see an election next spring.
An election would at least give the politicians an opportunity to outline what their Brexit policy is, they'd have to come clean on their objectives. At the moment, no one (remain or leave) as any idea what the current conservative administration are angling for, even before negotiation begin. It wasn't debated at the last general election, and the referendum didn't offer choices on Brexit, just a simple question, stay or leave.
"Brexit means brexit" is the most ridiculous position for a government to take, because no one (even them) has the slightest idea what Brexit actually means. It could be anything from complete end to all agreements, to simple opt outs on key areas.
The conservatives only have a very slim majority, so it was hardly a mandate for sweeping change, and most of their key policies have now been abandoned.
If the labour party split, then a lot could change, I also feel the Lib Dems could recover lost ground (in England at least) and could offer some more balance to the process. It will also be interesting to see what happens to the UKIP share of the vote.
The political landscape is vastly different to what is was at the last election. Anything could happen.

To date there is no hard post-Brexit data available, but there is a lot of speculation. There is a significant time-lag before events show up in the data. The current crop of statistics is probably more indicative of the slowdown in World economic growth (eg, China's problems), and the Euro-zone debt/bailout issues (especially Italy), then anything else. We'll probably have to wait until the autumn for a better understanding of the Brexit 'uncertainty' variable, and how that might impact on growth.

Depends on what you mean by 'hard' data. It's still survey data rather than actual results, but it's representative rather than anecdotal. I'd think of it as amber warning lights flashing on the dashboard of the economy; it's not a direct indication of recession but it certainly points in that direction.
