1060 Launch-No Wonder Nv is King

The FX 5800 and 5600 are probably the worst cards I have seen in many years. The borked DX9 implementation meant it could not run DX9 properly unless Valve made a separate path for the cards and degraded image quality somewhat.

Along with the 2900Xt and the 3900 really.

The rX480 is not quite that and but its pretty bottom of the barrel stuff when you look at the power consumption. and performance figures. More power than a 1070, half the performance is just shocking. Then there is the power-gate issue which is still not really resolved properly, the cards need an 8pin or 2nd 6pin to fix that properly.

I bought a fx5200 for my cousin who had no agp or pci express slot. Man that wad god dam awful.

They were terribad - Nvidia moved to a new process node too and tried to be clever with their DX9 implementation and the famous dustbuster fan.

The 9700 PRO was amazing for the time, and it was the first time I bought an ATI card in the 9500 PRO.

What like 160 watt card has a bigger memory interface, more V-Ram and higher compute throughput than a 120 watt card, it destroys the 120 watt card in the latest technology, matches it in old technology where its true performance is bottlenecked.....

Seriously nonsense posts like this are getting absolutely surreal.

AMD just need to go back to their roots; flames. Flames make it go faster!

What a load of rubbish.

What a load of rubbish.

There is a lot of that, as usual, he knows full well the reason Polaris gains so much performance from Vulkan and DX12 is because its true performance is bottlenecked by DX11.

It seems he chooses to ignore his own intelligence and talk nonsense like someone who has no understanding of anything because it suits his arguments.

He would do well in politics, or sales at Currys.

He has a point, check the graph below of the sapphire 480 nitro v msi 1060 gaming, the 1060 is faster whilst drawing 100 watts less. AMD got a lot of catching up to do.

Or depending on which API it used Nvidia have a lot of catching up to do, the card still uses the same amount of power.

This stuff is elementary, not rocket science.

What like 160 watt card .
More like 165w in most tests.

has a bigger memory interface,
Taht just shows how superior the NVida GPU is, better color delta compression and caching greatly removes the need for increased memory BW. This has been true between AMD and Nvidia for the last few generations. AMD are requiring more bandwidth just to keep up. that isn't a good thing for AMD!

more V-Ram
Will give you that but I'm dubious if 6GB will ever be a limit for a card of these capabilities.

and higher compute throughput
Pretty irrelevant when it comes to gaming where actual performance is important, not theoretical numbers.

More like 115w in gaming.

it destroys the 120 watt card in the latest technology,

What latest technology? the 1060 has advanced multi-projection VR capabilities has increase performance by up to 70%. Haven't seen anything close to that form Polaris.

matches it in old technology where its true performance is bottlenecked.....
You meaning DX11, in which case no, there is no matching. the 1060 is a good 10% faster. If the 480 is bottlenecked then that again just shows another limitation of the 480 that still hasn't been resolved despite AMD's indications.

Yes, a lot of nonsense, mostly coming form you.
