Graphics card question. Geforce 1080 SLI

As above try removing GeForce experience. I also would do a custom install when you install nvidia drivers and only install what you need, so if you don't need 3D driver, etc don't install them. Less to go wrong.

Thanks guys il give it ago, I've got 1 sli bridge but I need 2 right? It's just male to male. Each gpu has 2 connector for sli but my mini bridge will only link 1 to 1. I also have a 3 way sli connector, can I try that? So there will be a spare connector at the bottom unused can I try that?

Try what Chaparral said about GeForce experience. I can vaguely remember reading that a few people had issues with sli and it on a certain set of drivers.

okay I checked the SLI bridge and checked all cables were connected correctly, I then uninstalled Geforce experience and started GTA 5 up and got this:

Both cards running and the load is now shared

But in NVIDIA control panel it still shows this:

I dont suppose theres anything wrong I can live with (1) and (2) been wrong way round.

With the load been shared more on the screenshot does that mean my "problem" is fixed? and both cards are working fine now?

It does look like the problem's fixed, but I'd still recommend doing a quick test of each card individually, just to make sure!

The cards being the wrong way round is a tad odd though

I would try a few games to confirm what you've found, but yes it does look like sli is working now. The cards being wrong way round in Nvidia control panel could be a driver bug. Last time I used sli (original Titans) the top card in pcie slot 1 was graphics card 1 and the dominant card.

SLI support is not that great in GTA 5 so I would not do your SLI testing with that game ;)

I also noticed from your you tube video that this game in the screen shot below scaled very badly as well
Don't think am going to pay out for an SLI setup again

Hope I am OK to post this here as well as the general YouTube video thread :) In this video, I compare various games on my old two GTX980Ti cards in SLI, versus my single MSI GTX1080 Gaming X.

What games would you recommend that has the best sli support? And to test my gpu cards by removing 1 can I just unplug the power cable in it? So the mother board won't recognise it? Or do I need to totally remove card from motherboard too?

Crysis 3
Anything Frostbite Engine (BF3, BF4, BFH, Dragon Age Inquisition)
Overwatch

All of the above should give around +80% performance from the second GPU, if not more, provided you run them at taxing enough settings/resolutions to make sure you're GPU limited.

Obviously for this testing use a benchmark like 3D mark. Scaling should be 80℅ or so.

It does not matter which card is master or ID 1 etc. It makes zero difference.

GPU rendering test is not useful for this. Even games are unpredictable. Use a benchmark.

If 1 card is still faulty I want to remove the good/working card to see how the faulty one works or if it does work, but as I mentioned in my last post can I just unplug power from the working card? Or do I need to fully remove it from pc and motherboard too?

Just pull it out.

Also don't use windows 10 for this testing. Eff of SLI in 10 can differ between boots.

Right...

I took card 2/bottom card out and restarted:

I then swapped 1 and 2 around so now the bottom card would be at the top and used for display:

and the same happens

However... Testing GTA 5. on 1 card I got about 30-40FPS on ultra settings when I had both cards in SLI I got between 50-70FPS

So SLI is working... just the (1) and (2) mixed up which I can live with... but could there be another error/issue?

I also uninstalled ALL nvidia drivers and reinstalled now geforce experience is no longer on my machine to see if that did anything but it didnt...
