What ever happened to fabio contrao he was a left back I rated at one point but seems to off vanished

I was reading an article the other day about Mendes and his connection to Mourinho where it was stated that Fabio Contrao (one of Mendes' clients) was never popular with the team as they thought he was well below the quality of player that should be playing and well below the quality of player he was actually playing instead of (Marcelo)

(and speculation as to why he was bought to RM in the first place on the back of who his agent is and the too close ties to JM)

Was loaned to Monaco for last season but got a thigh injury relatively early in the season (after 18 or so apps, so maybe not that early) and never played again. Not sure what his contract status is currently but guessing he is back with RM now.

edit - more proof of how stupid prices are at the moment;
West ham are wanting £18m for Reece Oxford - that's just crazy money for one so young and such little experience.
There is as much risk as reward in getting such a young /inexperienced player - and of course WHU have every right to value him highly, but the market in general is nuts if anyone pays that much (given that they have reportedly already rejected £10m, it could easily be £15m or more in cash plus extras)

Not sure which is crazier £18m for Reece or £55m for Stones

I doubt that's true, he apparently has a release clause of only €24m for Barca, Real Madrid, Manchester United, PSG and Bayern. If we were really in for him there would be no need to bid more than €24m/£20m to get him away from City, especially as he himself and his agent own most of his rights so there's nothing his current club could do to stop it.

West Ham will be valuing him that high because they'd rather keep him but deem that enough value to lose him. They might be valuing him at that price to just ward off clubs. If someone pays it then that's when it's stupid.

This is where United now turn around and say "we will give you 20m less than we offered you because we know you need the money to finance your Higuain deal"

Not strictly true as who ever is on the other side of the conract from the player (whether thats the club or his agent) will always be after more money. So if City (or anyone else) wants to offer X amount - he will be forced down that route until Utd (or any of the other clubs supposedly mentioned) offer more.

Its neither here nore there, its only a matter of rumour at the moment anyway.

I would still suggest the market itself is crazy to be able to value any player who hasnt even played a season at that amount.

alos rumours that Juve have rejected Utd's offer of 110m euros+10m in incentives (apart from the fact they want Utd to stump up the 20% agent fee as well)

We actually don't because we just have to pay half this year. We can easily afford to hold onto him for longer.

Our management would not make a deal first that depended on the sale of a player that hasn't happened yet.

or the deal is so far along that they know it is likely inevitable?

Definitely not. Our management would not take such a risk. What happens if Paul fails his medical for example and Juve have already signed Higuain that they can not afford?

The Pogba deal would have happened first if that was the case. So the indication is Juve can afford to keep Pogba and sign Higuain.

There are players sales that can cover the cost of Higuain at least for the first year.

So whether Paul decides to leave or not, Juve are not using the Pogba money for Higuain.

If you believe the Italian press, we're about €10m short of what Juve want. Offered €110m+10m in bonuses. I personally think they will ideally want to sell him to fund the Higuain deal. I know they claim other players will cover it, but it's a hell of a lot of money.

Nobody seems to know exactly what's happening at the moment. Woodward has just joined the team on tour in China. Perhaps a bit of posturing from both sides.

I do fear Real Madrid swooping in though.

So the price is going up even further? I think if Real come in and steal the deal then Man Utd will have got off lucky because spending upwards of £110m for a player who isn't really in the realms of Ronaldo, Bale, Messi, Neymar etc is just ridiculous even with the prices of today.
