Summer Transfer Window 2016/17 - Rumours & Signings

If you believe the Italian press, we're about €10m short of what Juve want. Offered €110m+10m in bonuses. I personally think they will ideally want to sell him to fund the Higuain deal. I know they claim other players will cover it, but it's a hell of a lot of money.

Nobody seems to know exactly what's happening at the moment. Woodward has just joined the team on tour in China. Perhaps a bit of posturing from both sides.

I do fear Real Madrid swooping in though.

My only hope is the Higuain deal will convince him to stay at least another season and try to win the CL with the team.

He can't win the CL at United this season where at Juve with Higuain it will be one of the best chances he will have to win it.

So the price is going up even further? I think if Real come in and steal the deal then Man Utd will have got off lucky because spending upwards of £110m for a player who isn't really in the realms of Ronaldo, Bale, Messi, Neymar etc is just ridiculous even with the prices of today.

He is the next big thing in football though. There is no other upcoming star who will have his marketability so paying £100 million will be relatively cheap in the long term for him.

At this point I really wouldnt be suprised if this happens

.... where at Juve with Higuain it will be one of the best chances SO FAR he will have to win it.
.

edited for you and even then maybe not

He has nearly ten years to go in his career, so no it wont be "one of the best" chances, Juve may not even get to the final (in fact right now, probably odds on NOT to - just from everything else that has to go their way to make the final again)

You really rate him then? You've probably seen more of him than most of us.

As a player he is worth about £40 million. Add his age at 23 and future potential of having no weakness his ceiling is sky high for how good he can be.

His marketability is huge who ever signs him will have a player who can be the face of the team for the next 10 years.

2 seasons ago when Allegri first took over we were playing terrible football and the only reason we were winning games was because Pogba was carrying the attack on his own at 21.

He can make something happen out of nothing with his runs and good long range passing.

I wouldn't sell him if I was given the choice.

Definitely not. Our management would not take such a risk. What happens if Paul fails his medical for example and Juve have already signed Higuain that they can not afford?

The Pogba deal would have happened first if that was the case. So the indication is Juve can afford to keep Pogba and sign Higuain.

There are players sales that can cover the cost of Higuain at least for the first year.

So whether Paul decides to leave or not, Juve are not using the Pogba money for Higuain.

From what i can gather the agreements are in place but they haven't actually bought Higuain yet.

Pogba is 40-60m with 10m added for potential. Absolutely ridiculous if Man Utd pay that much for him. I completely agree with Scholes (for once).

Don't get it myself I mean all fee`s in a sense are over the top but Pogba is not as good as Bale,Messi,Neymar,Ronaldo,Suarez. Xavi and iniesta in there younger days also were better imo there sort of players I'd say are 100 million plus. Pogba I would have thought 60 at tops.

You also wouldn't be able to buy any of those players for €110m though.

And if they don't sign him somebody else would be the face of the team for the next 10 years and they'll still be generating just as much commercial income without him.

Everytime people bring up this marketing/shirt sales bs it makes me laugh. It's nothing more than a myth. Utd are bigger than Pogba. Companies sponsor Utd for Utd not because of Rooney, Pogba or even Ronaldo and Beckham before. Look at the commercial revenue of all the biggest clubs in the world and look at the seasons they've bought and sold star players. It makes **** all difference.

And you're making it out as if Pogba is a global superstar. Have I missed something? Outside of football he's a nobody compared to a Messi or Ronaldo.

You could probably get Ronaldo for that money, but the small amount of his career remaining at the top would make any deal unworkable for the buying club

To be fair Im not sure how much Messi / Ronaldo are known outside households that either are not interested in sport, or arent living in Madrid / Barcelona etc (just to discount local press about eating in X restuaruant , or seen in Y location etc)

Neither of my parents or step parents are aware in the slightest of either (just as much as they were not aware of Mansell/ Senna or any other massive sports heros

The only one they are aware of is Ben Ainslie (sailing) because he is a local

Im not saying they are typical at all, but dont take that kind of thing for granted either.

I don't dispute Pogba is overpriced, but when you look at the kind of money fairly average players are going for, it's really not that shocking.

Imagine Pogba vs a team of Bebe's (not quite the same value but getting there) :D

Actually I think calling Bebe average would be a compliment to his skill

I wonder who the backup options Mou mentioned are.

Probably Matic and Matuidi (maybe not in that order, given that PSG will probably be easier to negotiate with than Chelsea)

Unless JM goes for one out of left field as it were and thinking Reece Oxford ......doubtful however from a (lack of) experience point of view

Just read that Juventus have said they want another 10mil on top.... lol

They know they can milk united, like every other team does.

Hope united grow a pair and **** them off na... Or do what someone above said, offer them less.

Amazing player or not 130mil is just silly. Only player i would put that kind of money on and not have to even think about it is Messi. Which obviously would never happen, unfortunately. Ide knock one off to messi in a united kit :(
