Worst pain you've experienced?

Thinking about it some it some more, it depends how you consider 'worst pain'. Both the above were extremely painful but only for a short period. Less painful but over much longer period were a migraine that lasted a week,stopped me sleeping anything longer then about 20 minutes and throwing up anything I ate or drank. Eventually leading to me being hospitalised and given stronger and stronger painkillers until oramorph eventually knocked me out. The other was following a cycling accident where I landed on my head and shoulder. The helmey was toast but it did its job of protecting my head but my shoulder wasn't so lucky. I damaged the muscles in my shoulder, upper arm, chest and back so practically lost the use of my arm for a couple of weeks.
 
Worst pain was defo a corneal abrasion. Scraped a chunk off my eyeball with plank of wood... don't ask.

Eye doctor said he's had girls who've recent give birth say the pain is not comparable to a similar injury.

Worst 3 days of my life. Luckily it healed.
 
Toothache in my wisdom tooth a while back. Even popping some of my mums back pain pills didnt help that much.

I also have a cyst on my tailbone that is really painful when it flares up. When it does its a week of constant dull pain. Seems to get worse at night and keeps me awake. Getting it sorted out isnt an easy task and the treatments sound horrific. Cutting it out and then packing the hole with gauze until it heals and having a nurse coming to change the gauze every day... no thanks :eek:

Never fractured, broken bone or split skin. I try to avoid anything that can get me near that, I cannot tolerate pain at all very well.

When I was a kid of around 10/11 I jumped off my bed and landed on an upturned three-pin electrical plug which embedded all three pins deep into my heel, I distinctly remember that hurting quite a bit.

I also ripped my nose almost completely off in a car crash which wasn't too painful as I was mostly unconscious/in shock and then medicated heavily and they managed to stitch it back on very neatly too but it left me very prone to sinusitis/sinus infections which are barrels of fun. :(
 
GOUT

do not type that in google and click images, a guy with a broken hip said gout was more painful.

i have had abcess,s on back molars and constant throbbing intense pain from front teeth needing root cannaled and then later pulled out.

also had a arm broken in 2 place's.

had a sprained ankle as well and concussion.

nothing compared to the pain of gout and how long it endures for, apparently about the most painful form of arthritus and im only 32 and had my second acute gout attack im now on meds making my hair gradually fall out lol

seen a few other guys just said gout, such a short word for something so painful lol :)

Was scuba diving in my 20s in Australia, I was swimming through a cave sort of area and put my hand on a stonefish...

Never felt anything like it in my life since.

By all accounts you probably won't, I've heard a female diver say she'd rather give birth again. I flap like a girl if I get nailed by a wasp, forget stonefish. :o
 
The first split second they stuck a huge long needle in my nuts for my vasectomy, as they injected in the anesthesia. Only lasted a split second before the anesthesia kicked in, but man, i'll never forget it. Felt like a vice took an egg and squashed it, which resonated thru into my stomach.

My ongoing tattoo removal is also very painful. Only lasts 45 secs, but its somewhat akin to a blow torch being held to your leg for those 45secs. They could quite happily sell those machines as torture devices. About 50x the pain of having the tattoo in the first place, is the removal.
 
Torn intercostals was pretty bad. Herniated L5 disc was bad and entirely my own fault. Gallstones with pancreatitis was much worse, though. One episode caused me to black out. Even the open (ie. non-keyhole) removal of the gallbladder wasn't that bad (I did have the self-administered morphine machine then, though).
 
A collapsed lung which resulted in 2 weeks of a tube being stuck in through my side and scraping about in the breastbone area every time i moved. It felt like someone was holding a lighter to my insides. I never thought i'd be so glad to have surgery to get it over with.
 
Worse pain I've been in, is 5 days of headaches following the blockage of a VP (Ventriculoperitoneal) Shunt as I suffer from Hydrocephalus. I should have known sooner and put it down to a sinus headache. :( Apparently when the surgeon removed the shunt to replace it there was an audible hiss as the pressure escaped from my brain.. :eek:

Either that or tubing from the VP shunt pressing on my diaphragm/nerves and sending the pain all the way up my chest and shoulders. That lasted over a month.
 
There is a particular kitesurfing trick where you jump about as high as you can and loop the kite. This produces a huge amount of pull which is where the 'ooh this is cool' sensation comes from...

The issue is, that if you don't go high enough the kite won't catch you, so to speak and you will hit the water at a fair whack over 35-40mph, with your bottom.

LAst year I had a crash doing one of these where I hit the water incredibly hard, though my wetsuit had done some magic and presented my chaps to the water slightly before my backside did.

I was in so much pain I threw up 3 or 4 times, my kidneys felt like they were going to leave my body through my armpits. The weirdest thing was that it felt as though I had done something very OCUK, but instead of a letter box it was my wetsuit. I felt violated.

after about 20 mins lying on my back on the sand, the pain started to leave me and after removal of my wetsuit, it transpired that I had not pooped myself, thankfully.

sounds pretty weak compared to some of the stories on here (Blackvault, that sounds horrific!)

Fractured ankle years ago was quite painful.

But most painful would be my back. Had a lot of back trouble last couple of years. Last year had these spasms in my back that put me on the floor and I couldn't get up for ages. Was agony.

Been off work since end of march as my job involve a lot of lifting heavy equipment. Turns out I've got a disc compressing a nerve in my lower lumbar spine. Waiting to hear from a specialist about possible surgery to shave some of the disc or something.

So sick now of the back aches/pains everyday
 
Fractured tibia was probably the worst, but surprisingly it was probably matched by an ear infection I once had or ingrown toenails. Often it's the small things that hurt the most.
 
Two attacks of gout - now on allopurinol, but the pain was unreal.

Also a perianal abscess that developed into a fistula. That was treated with a seton stich. The pain from that was unreal as well!
 
Gallstones, felt like having multiple heart attacks whenever one would decide to block up my bile duct...
 
I've had broken noses, 2 broken bones in my right hand, broken fingers, I've been stabbed 3 times, had a wisdom tooth break in half leaving exposed nerves as well as terrible migraines and none of that compares to the pain I felt with Psoriatic Arthritis.

It's impossible to accurately describe the pain, like a cold burning in every joint, you can't do anything without intense pain radiating through your body. It doesn't end during a flair up, you can't even lie down and sleep because it hurts too much. The only way I could get sleep was to just wait until I was too exhausted to stay awake anymore.

My wife asked me if I was ok one morning and I just broke down in tears, it doesn't just attack the body, the constant pain, the inability to even hug your own kids destroy your mind. Depression is a series issue with it.

Luckily I was put in touch with a consultant who prescribed Sulfasalazine and even starting on 2 a day we've had to up it to 4 tablets a day to combat it. I still get pain but no flair ups, just a few side effects now and having a suppressed immune system but it's a small price to pay.

I've recently sprained my ankle, in fact I put a photo of it on here in the "can't sleep" thread in GD and it was twice the size of normal and black. That hurt quite a bit, and still bothers me now several months on. Still doesn't beat the PsA though :(
