Hey,

Just ordered a Gigabyte GTX1080 G1 Gaming from OCUK should be with me tomorrow. I have read of a few issues with coil whine and some of them being damaged in transit, does anyone have any experience of this at all?

Not that I am worried, OCUK have always been great when a return is needed. I remember buying 6950's from OCUK and got 2 dud ones in a row before I decided to instead buy a Gigabyte 780 which has been flawless for the past several years.

Recently bought the Phillips 43 inch 4k monitor and while it only runs at 60hz I am blown away by it although it has shown the limitations of the 780. 1080 should be with me tomorrow, can't wait :)

Thanks OCUK :p

I have that card and no issues for me. A couple of guys reported some QC issues with the fan catching the shroud and a couple with coil whine but a decent PSU will help with that.

I have a 900w Tagan, think it's around 6 years old. Will that do?

Have g1 gaming with a 750 xfx psu... zero coil whine and silent fan too..

And Overclocks decent too

Thought it was only the 1080 Xtreme that had to be repackaged due to damage to the cooler.

G1 Gaming was not affected as it uses a different cooler.

Yer, could have been. I just remember a couple of the Gigabyte 1080s getting mentioned.

@ the OP - I don't know much about that PSU bud but if it was very cheap, might be best to buy a new one but I will let those more in the know answer that.

Ahh so it's not the gaming card, excellent news. The Tagan is decent I think it was around £110 but will eventually replace it with a superflower when I get around to doing a new build

What kind of boost clocks are you managing with your cards guys, 2000+ for core ?

Mine boosts to 1950Mhz and max stable OC is 2050Mhz - I don't have the best clocker :(
