I know a lot of people on here use and recommend this card, particularly for travelling abroad.

Got a letter from Halifax yesterday informing me that the monthly £5 reward (£300 minimum monthly spend) is being scrapped from October onwards. Last month with reward will be September.

So if, like me, you use it day to day, maybe time to keep that one with your passport, and get another reward card for daily purchases.

Huh, that's a shame, but I've had my Clarity card for years and never seen any kind of reward on it regardless of monthly spend... Other than the intrinsic benefits of the card itself, of course.

Yeah, shame. I used this card as a non Amex spill for anywhere which didn't accept Amex.

What to move to? I am tempted to simply close the card out entirely if it offers no incentive. Plenty of cards offer zero forex loading so I won't miss it for that.

Never knew this even existed.

must have been for customers who took out the card at a particular time.

Same, I've had a Clarity card for five years and never heard anything about a bonus. I thought it was only the Halifax Current Accounts that had anything like that.

Current account holders do get £5 if they pay in £x every month, but credit card is separate £5.

They are not advertising it on their website anymore. I think I signed up in 2011, so it was 5 years ago. I got into a habit of spening just enough on it to get £5 then use my Avios-earning MBNA card for anything else.

I actually got a letter from them today to advise it is being cancelled and it does state that this is being withdrawn, but was only applicable to some customers in the first place.

And this. Used abroad and when i need a credit card and they won't take AMEX.

The main point of the card is still for use abroad, so it was rarely used in the UK.

I never knew about this offer either and got it solely for using it on holiday. Day to day I use my Amex wherever i could to accumulate avios points.

Seems like a good time to clarify how this card works so I don't get any nasty surprises when I'm over on the west coast of America.

I purchase something on card = as long as I pay before next statement date I pay nothing like a regular CC ?

I withdraw cash from a ATM = Only charge is the interest clock is ticking straight away so I if pay that back the following day I will only pay a minimal amount of interest.

There are no cash withdrawal fee's or anything similar?

So in essence its cheaper to use this card in all circumstances when abroad?
