Brexit thread - what happens next

:D

Looking forward to any plan.

Look a page back at Mulder's list of 'ideas', do you think that's a plan? Whitehall laugh test required. Heck, when Mr Flexcit gave evidence to the select committee even he chuckled at some of the stuff on that list. :p

It's going to be a lot of graft and by the time we get there, expect a document the size of our original competencies review (an entire shelf of material, to be precise). That's just for starters: to train people and provide useful, factual reference.

Bet they won't be shutting down experts then.

This Pokemon is normally found around larger blocks of text and one or more grown men trying to have a conservation. Being a burrower, his invisible mode is his main defence and ambush is his primary mode of attack. Evolution potential is almost zero but good enough to mix up the deck for a few laughs.

If you can get more than a line out of him, you must be a right Trot. ;) Heavens forfend you also snatch at his tinfoil, he might go multisyllabic on your hide, with references to exceptionally reliable sources, plain ol' common sense, uncle Nige and 'aha, you'll see', winking manically and slaughtering irony like a Rhyl butcher on cheap crack throughout! :D
This pokemon is found in large pools of salty tears.

There exist alternatives other than "we're at war" and "everything is wonderful and it's just a few nasty people who disagree with us - the pesky little blighters! not an ideology that hates everything we stand for and is bent on destroying our way of life".

Let's pretend we're not at war and everything is wonderful and it's just a few nasty people who disagree with us - the pesky little blighters! not an ideology that hates everything we stand for and is bent on destroying our way of life.

Let's just brush that under the carpet shall we?

The last war the UK had was the Korean War. All others have been the PM's military adventures or police type/insurgency actions. As I said overuse of the 'war', there is another war on Thursday, war on waste :D

These people are few, have mastered the internet to get maximum exposure and are supported/financed by a member of NATO. Turkey to be exact, who were buying oil from IS. You may remember the journalists who broke the story were accused of 'treason' and jailed.

As for hating 'us', by which I assume you mean the West although others of another branch of their professed religion do not get off any easier, our actions have helped to create this anger. It was the US/Pakistan that help create Al-Q because it helped their struggle against Russia at the time. As usual, these people never planned for post conflict(where have we heard that before) and what to do about the large number of weapons and young men who knew how to use them.

My point is we're at war. The only difference between our current situation in the West against ISIS and Hitler's war of annihilation against Russia and Communism for example, is the method.

And i'll clarify 'The West' by including all reasonable expressions of all religions and the secular. I don't deny the West's part in creating this mess either, but that doesn't alter the fact that we're at war.

There exist grades of response and action, but the fact is we are in a state of war with this particular ideology. Or they are with most of the the rest of the world.

War: a conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations or between parties within a nation;

Does The Falklands ring any bells?

We're not at war.

Daesh would like very much to claim that status but it doesn't reflect reality. What we've seen is a bunch of terrorists actions by disaffected nobodies with fairly minimal connections to Daesh. This isn't an organised assault, with sleeper cells, or even "cells". Talking about "war" is neither an accurate reflection of what is going on, nor a helpful prism through which to view events.

In Syria we're engaged in a spot of aimless bombing, which in our case seems to be conveniently timed to whenever our politicians want to brag about it. In Iraq, where we damn well should be at war with Daesh, we're engaged in some minimal support of the legitimate government.

We are at war.

There weren't sleeper cells in Belgium then?

Reading the daily mail comments are depressing

Apparently a massive drop in the value of the £ and a big recession was coming whether we left the EU or not.

It will definitely be much bigger out of the EU, we are still paying in but not receiving any money back atm, investing is on hold, the housing building program has stopped since the election, etc, etc

This is going to be the biggest, deepest recession we have ever had I am afraid.

That but also the fact that the situation we're in now is exactly the right time for funding infrastructure or new business ideas. Despite all the rhetoric about this presenting opportunities etc. etc. I can only really see more austerity and corporate tax cuts as a way of buying good news.

Oh have you not seen the other proposals? 10% corporation tax for new companies for the first three years and exemption from minimum wage and other protective employment laws.

I cant wait to see British people getting paid £5 an hour doing the jobs those low skilled immigrants used to do for £7.50 an hour.
