Are my pants about to be pulled down?

And alloy+tyre insurance :D what the hell is that all about?
Also, £400 :eek::eek:
For that money you could refurb all the alloy wheels AND replace all of the tyres yourself, and probably still come in a bit cheaper.

This deal is a pants down and shafted.....by everyone in the company :p

Can pick a 2012 plate with low miles for about 5k-6k.

Where can you pick up a 2012 plate BlueGT 1.4TSI with low miles for 5K - 6K?

Cheapest I can see is £6K and has 120K on the clock, low mileage ones are over £9K.

Why do you guys have to be so negative and put a downer on his new car?

Not sure if serious or whether whoosh parrot required. It's not 'his' new car, it's a deal he was offered. He's asked whether it's a good idea or whether his pants are about to be pulled down. The reply, rightly, is that his pants were already down and the dealer was just homing in on the target. He just hasn't realised yet...

Not necessarily, but probably on this car. I took out wheel and try insurance when I bought my 5 series, and despite "only" having 3 wheel refurbed (they really weren't that bad, but because I had insurance...) I have also had 3 tyres.

OK, the maximum payout per tyre is £250 on the policy, but they were replaced without question. So I have had £750 in tyres and 3 refurbs out of it.

On an ecobox Polo though, no, not worth it most likely.

As said above. He hasn't bought the car. He was asking for advice on the deal, and got the appropriate response.

On a serious note, a brand new car on drive the deal is £15,658 with PCP at 6.7% and a year's free insurance.

Pretty sure your monthlies (and total cost of ownership if you purchased at the end) would be lower with a brand new Polo compared to the quote posted in the OP.

Eurgh, this is why I hate leasing :-\

The main issue I have is that there's realistically about £2k trade in for my car at the moment. There is some cash, however, I really want to keep that for funding anything for the house if things start going south (boiler breaks etc...)

This is what I'm after;

Cruise Control
~50mpg
0-60 ~ 8 seconds
Hatchback / Estate
5 Door
Climate control
18,000 Miles
~£200pm

A £10,000 bank loan is £224pm over 4 years. Sell your E90 to either add to the £10k or take a smaller loan to get the monthly payment to £200pm.

As for what car I'd recommend a Skoda Octavia vRS TDI.

Manual:

or my preference, DSG for a better commute:

If you need extra poke add in a remap for £500.

How much is the E90 costing a month to keep on the road? Doubt it's £225.

Why, if money is tight, shoehorn yourself into such a commitment. Save that £225 each month for when the E90 breaks. My B7 A4 is probably similar age and on 134K and I see no reason why it wouldn't do that again.

If you must change the car why not take out a loan and part ex the E90 - should get more than £2K for it.

Best advice ever.

Granted I haven't had a loan in a long long time, but they're that cheap at the moment? That's only £752 interest!
Can I ask who was that with? If loans are so cheap right now I'm tempted to treat myself.

Low 3% from quite a few places. Check comparison websites.

Well done for asking OP, you did the right thing. A lot of people wouldn't have done, and would have made a big financial mistake and regretted it.

Whilst I don't like the way some people have 'advised' you, they are all pushing you in the right direction, and that is to think about what you really need, and what you can really afford.

As a general rule, PCP is rarely a sensible decision on a used car.
