A dilemma of sorts...

I already own a fairly competent PC (see sig), however I have been toying with the idea of upgrading to a GTX 1070 for the sake of longevity. I sold my original GTX 970 to a friend in order that he could meet the requirements of Oculus Rift, but foolishly replaced it with yet another model, albeit a slightly better one. I can't help but knock myself for lacking patience, although I was largely unwilling to rely on integrated graphics for the duration. I am now faced with selling my current GPU and recouping some of my money, and shelling out the rest for an upgrade, or sticking with my system and purchasing Oculus Rift instead. (The Vive is not an option!)

Any suggestions? I'm out on a limb here!

Personally I wouldn't touch VR atm, still too early unless you've got plenty of money.

What resolution do you play at? Is your current 970 struggling?

I currently game at 1080p, but I was thinking of the long-term. I expect the GTX 1070 would be more than sufficient at my present resolution, but would allow for a better monitor, and then there's the benefit of extra VRAM and improved DirectX 12 support.

Things to consider when purchasing your next videocard.

What resolution will you be playing at 1080p/1440p/4k
Freesync/gsync
Budget.

You can pick up a 1070 for just over £350 today. Awesome deal but only offer today..

I've opted for the GTX 1070! The offer was too good to pass up!
I plan to increase my system's RAM to 16GB also. Oculus will simply have to wait! ;)
