He's a decent player and I don't understand the hatred for him. He's not going to win you the league but he's solid enough to be played alongside or alternated with someone quick who knows how to find the net. His link play and little flicks and passes are sublime at times.

I was impressed with Giroud in the Euros...right up until he played against the better teams where he was a bit useless.

And that is the problem there, against the big teams he disappears and makes no impact.

But then looking at our past season, the second half he went completely AWOL even against the smaller teams lol.

He had a good start to the Euros but when it came to the better teams, well less said the better.

I'm not his biggest fan, never have been but I do think we need another option up front. And no not walnut or Sanchez, they both have shown they can't do the job there unless walnut is negotiating a new contract lol.

that's standard though even for good players, when you play harder opposition, it's less likely you're going to score a hat-trick. Often, these game are settled by a single goal, maybe a 2-1, even then the odds that you influence the game a greatly reduced to when you win 3 or 4 nil. He scored against plenty of big sides last year if i recall. I'd hazard a guess he scored against half the clubs in the top 10 last year.

Arsenal got off lightly when Vardy rejected them, he wouldn't suit them at all.

Why though, Barca manage just fine with Suarez, Messi and Neymar up front, all of them have pace.

Comparing Vardy to either of Suarez, Messi or Neymar, do I even need to answer?

Do you know how Arsenal play? Do you know how Leicester played last season?

It's pretty simple really, because Leicester play a direct counter attacking game, you only ever saw Vardy play in that particular way, i think he could play in a circulation set up though, Messi, Neymar and Suarez all play in that particular system. Just becuase you have pace, deosn't mean you can't pass the ball well enough to play in that system, i wouldn't say Giroud's ability to pass is any better than Vardy, Giroud manages perfectly ok in that system.

Giroud works because he's a target man and he brings other players into play. Arsenal could still do with a better striker but Vardy isn't that man. Did you see how little effect Vardy had in the Euro's in a team that played differently to Leicester?

Are you kidding me? Barcelona have 3 world class strikers. Jesus.

That's obvious, i didn't think i needed to point that out. Are you saying you need to be world class in order to the play false 9 then? Because that's very silly. At the end of the day, i think players have a natural ability for other positions but you can certainly coach players for other positions. I don't see anything to suggest that Vardy couldn't adapt, the Euro's isn't a good indicator, that's for sure. Plenty of times last year Leicester had some great one touch passing with Vardy, Kante, and Mahrez on the outside of the box. We can agree to disagree on Vardy's ability..

I actually don't understand what you're getting at. Vardy wouldn't suit Arsenal & Vardy isn't Neymar/Messi/Suarez. End of discussion.

I'm talking perfect sense, i don't understand why you're saying Vardy is not Messi, Suarez, Neymar, we don't need to go over that, that's obvious. I'm asking whether you need to be world class in order to play a false 9 position? You seem to think you do.

You're making the assumption that Vardy's pace wouldn't suit Arsenal, but plenty of clubs play with a quick striker in a circulation set up.

You seem to be putting words on my fingers.

Why would you even want to play Vardy as a false 9? Just because Barcelona did it for a while with Messi? What is your reasoning? A false 9 suits a team that plays with a false 9 and a player that knows how to play that role. Do you really think a player who's 29 and worked in a counter attacking game last season is going to be played as a false 9?

Well Arsenal aren't going to move away from their philosophy, Vardy would be entrusted to adapt to Arsenal's tactical approach, when in possession anyway, out of possession, he certainly wouldn't need any coaching as he proved last season he can play on the counter. It's about faith, as to whether he can adapt to a lone striker playing as a false 9 in possession. You're previous replies didn't lead me to believe you were analyzing that though, you were assuming because Vardy is quick, he couldn't play in a circulation set up, that's what i was trying to understand from you.

Just because you have pace it doesn't mean you can pass either. Your comment/comparrison to Barca's front 3 is truly mind boggling

Vardy has never showed anything to suggest that he can be anything other than a striker that plays on the last defender. He was nothing more than a journeyman until last season.

As for Giroud. He's a focal point that Arsenal can play off and around. Something Vardy has never shown he's capable of doing.
