Ford Edge - Thoughts/Deals?

Hello

My dad's deal on a Kia Sportage is coming to an end and he's looking to get a Ford Edge to replace it.

I've owned a Ford in the past (2005 Focus ST) and never had an issue with them.

The PCP deal he saw was horrible though. They wanted a £6700 deposit and then it was £300 a month for 3 years and a balloon at the end of £15,000. Seemed ridiculous to me, but apparently that was interest free.

So are there any decent deals out there for these? Broker prices maybe? I'd rather steer him towards a cheap loan so at least he has equity in the car.

I think he's looking at the Titanium version with 210PS and the dual clutch auto gearbox.

He's 64 so he wants something he can travel in comfort in and has decent boot space.

Doesn't want an estate for some reason.

A 'drivers' car isn't necessarily his priority but I still don't think the Edge is all that, even with a plethora of equipment.

wife has told me i'm buying her one next year to replace her kuga.

have to say they do look rather nice,

lots of Mondeo parts to be found which is no bad thing, although I notice you cant order it with sync 3 yet, just the old sync2 infotainment system i'd personally hang fire as the later version is far superior.

bloody massive though, our local ford dealer had one parked up next to a focus and it was almost comical the size difference.

theres also a newer version of the 210bhp bi turbo diesel lump in the offing with a few tweaks taking it up to 240 horses. so with that and the infotainment i'd be tempted to hang fire for a few months

I've seen lots of Edge's in North America and they do look awesome.

The Kuga, meanwhile, is fairly horrible.

Agreed I did see one at Silverstone and I was surprisingly impressed, good looking vehicle.

Driven the 210PS Auto and, IMHO, I like it. Its a heavy car so even with 210PS, it doesnt feel too quick but the ride is great and it is very quiet and smooth to drive. Loads of room - I am tall and, even with the drivers seat back to where I put it, I could fit in the back as well.

Again - another Ford Store only vehicle just now
