Summer Transfer Window 2016/17 - Rumours & Signings

We have about 30 players in the 1st team squad (Not inclusive of Pogba). We could easily afford to lose half a dozen of those.

You think we could do a full season including Europa with 24 players, are you joking?? :D

I'm actually baffled by people saying we should get rid of Schweinsteiger. Why on earth would we get rid of him and keep Carrick? He's better than Carrick in every way.

I guess that's the question, was he seen as somebody that would compete straight away or was he somebody they were signing in the hope he can develop into that player?

You seem oddly certain it's that much, given how much misinformation there's been etc :p.

Not certain at all, but that is what's being reported at the moment.

If Juventus are paying Raiola's fee too, as reported in Italy, then that's rather good.

Can anyone tell me the inflation prices on Buffon, Zidane and Ferdinand for their respective transfers?

Not quite seeing the problem with spending x amount on whoever at this point in time. Not like United are cash strapped and spent it all on one player.

And I'll argue anyone (Paul Scholes) to the call that he doesn't score x amount of goals... There's 10 other players on a football pitch, they don't all have to directly put the ball in the net.

People need to get a grip. It ain't your money. They ain't splicing the squad for one player. It's buying talent regardless.

Ah, I thought it was £7m vs £10m. Still, it's not as though £10m is much nowadays, if they're thought of as someone who can compete for a starting spot.

Totally agree that £10m is not much right now, but considering Liverpool got Clyne for what £12.5m and he was able to go straight in as first choice right back (and in my opinion should be England's right back) paying almost that again for an unproven potential young player who cannot solve a problem position (Left back) might just seem not worth it?

He spent half the season on the treatment table & he's way past it.

So did Shaw? Schweinsteiger is hardly required to start every week but he's a fantastic utility player, being able to bring on someone with that much experience and quality is so good for a young team. If it's good enough for Germany it's good enough for Utd.

hoping Moyes will come in with a nice £15mil offer for the big donkey.

Beyond an experienced CB, we need to concentrate on sales. Rojo, Fellaini, Will Keane and Schwein for me need to be found new clubs.

I agree with Manchester United (and Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City) needing a good clear out of the deadwood, but slightly disagree on who Manchester United should move out.

I agree with Fellaini, but have a feeling Mourinho might like him (as Van Gaal did).

I agree, he is a far better option that Carrick too.

Woo! :D News!

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Watford midfielder Almen Abdi and full-back Daniel Pudil for undisclosed fees.

Link.

Abdi is rumoured to be ~£4m~, not sure on Pudil. I think they are both good signings, but they are 29/30 respectively. I would rather Wednesday picked up some younger players, but I think the message is clear; Carlos wants experience (signed Fletcher :meh: ) but we have signed some young players too.

Lee signing a new contract is fantastic news too; him, Bannan, and Forestieri are three of the best midfielders in the division in my opinion :p.

He was bad in half the games he played last season. Lowe is loyal to some players in the German squad, hence Podolski still getting called up. Shaw spent last season out with 1 injury, Basti seemed to keep having niggling injuries. Good player back in his day but don't let it cloud your judgement.

for the 6 games a season he is actually fit for, is it worth it?

At the end of the day Mourinho could have let Carrick leave , but chose to ask him to sign a new contract. For right or wrong thats pretty conclusive that JM thinks he is crucial even for one year.

If you cant see the difference between Shaw and Schweinsteiger there is something seriously wrong.

At the end of the day Utd (with Pogba) shouldnt need even the thought of Schweinsteiger , albeit different types of player - Shaw has 10 years (hopefully) in the Utd team ahead of him, Schweinsteiger doesnt deserve 10 minutes (the EPL passed him by for the most part, when he was available)

It came from the Daily Mail so 'nuff said.

Those two are rumoured to be going on loan.

might be the right call for B-J to go on loan, but for ******* keep F-M at Utd this season( and Pereira) the latter two just dont make sense in loaning out

Mugged.

How many of these do you think we ard going to sell with pogba on it? Those saying hes so marketable...in what way?

People want goalscorers on their shirts or club heroes. Pogba is the kid who screwed utd over, came bsck 4 years later after a woeful Euros for a world record fee.

Fosu Mensah should not be going on loan, he is good enough to be in regular involvement with the first team. Id even have him in ahead of Jones.

A potential future midfield partnership of TFM and Pogba is drool worthy, physically both beasts and obviously can play, they would destroy.

He was outshone by nani across the tournament. I believe Pogba had one good game against the powerhouse Switzerland.
wasn't pigba drooped in one match too?

He was played out of position all tournament and asked to play a defensive role.

If you expect goals and assists out of someone playing DM it's asking a bit much when he was hardly allowed to venture forward.
