The Great Wall

Before I saw the trailer I thought maybe Matt Damon was playing the part of an ancient Chinese warrior heheh

This is proof that white people came from China.

...and dragons too, which you would know if you actually watched the trailer.;)

i'm assuming Matt will be some character who's encountered the beasties before and is there to help the Chinese, not actually playing a Chinese character?

Zhang Yimou said:
"Our film is not about the construction of the Great Wall,” Zhang told EW. “Matt Damon is not playing a role that was originally conceived for a Chinese actor. The arrival of his character in our story is an important plot point. There are five major heroes in our story and he is one of them — the other four are all Chinese."
Quite funny how quickly people are to criticise.

I think it looks great, I love the premise.

It must be a Chinese financed film targeted for the Chinese market (a billion people) and wanted a Hollywood star to open doors into more regions.

+1 Being from Chinese decent I think I can understand they tend to do these kind of films to appeal the western audience.

It's the biggest budget film entirely shot in China. Produced by Legendary (owned by Wanda, Chinese conglomerate), Le Vision (Chinese) and China Film Group :) Could be a big deal for Chinese film making indeed.

Looks like a perfectly reasonable action movie that will more than likely smash box office records due to being a Chiniese movie produced for East and West movie lovers. I like the look of it and would think it will do very well.
