Plusnet Charging 99 Quid For Their Home Hub 1

The OP already has a HH5 i suspect he wanted to try and get a new one for free as you would, but was gobsmacked at their ludicrous charge for it.

I wouldn't want the first one, let alone want another one for no reason.

Look at it in the context that PN are offering a customer who is already in contract a product that retails for £106.23 + P&P for £99 +P&P as an optional upgrade mid way through his contract. Lets use the same analogy with Sky for example, try telling them you want to buy a 2TB box mid contract and see what they want for it - it'll be RRP and not the discounted new customer rate, same with mobile providers, this is how the overwhelming majority of industries that front the cost for your hardware to use the service operate. BT may own PN, but they can't just offer them cheap hubs in the same way that OR can't bung BT cheap wholesale deals.

Just get an ASUS router. I have been with plusnet for a few years now. And have always used my own router.

What would an ASUS router do better than the Home Hub 5 that I have now?

I am already close to the 76 down and 20 up that I am paying for so please explain?

To be fair, I have not yet found this with my HH5, but previous BT routers (HH3) frequently crashed/disconnected when being used as a modem/router/wireless access point.

My current one threw a wobbly when I first got it, but it must have been training the line as it has been fine since. /Touches wood.

If you already have a Home hub 5 why do you want one from plusnet? BT charge about £80 for them and as others have said they would prefer you to sign the contract rather than by it outright.

Plusnet don't know I have the BT Home Hub. I was just asking about their Hub. I got the BT Hub for nothing.

Is that Ok with you?

Let me explain things properly here.

When I was with BT I got the Home Hub 5 free of charge. I left BT for Plusnet and got a crappy router.

Plusnet have released their version of the Home Hub 5 so why shouldn't I get one?

It's funny that. I have a 3570K but intel haven't sent me a 6600K - why shouldn't I get one.
You can get get one, the terms under which you've been offered one were in your opening post.
:D

You signed up to a fixed period contract that contract included free hardware, part way through that contract the company in question changes the equipment it offers free to customers taking out a new contract, rather than tell you to get stuffed as you're in contract they offer you a new contract extension with the new kit or if you prefer not to re-contract you can buy it from them at the market rate.

You feel butt hurt because they won't send you a 'free' router that by your own admission you don't need.

If you're new to adult life and this is your first experience contracts and service provision where the service provider fronted the hardware cost so you could use the service, then you're liable to crap the bed when find out your mobile provider won't stump up for a new customer deal on your phone part way through the contract, same with subscription TV services such as Sky or any other where the equipment becomes yours.

Now if you'll excuse me i'm off to moan at Sky as they haven't sent me a free LG32" TV that they are offering 'new' customers, I only got £240 of credit/cash back promotions when I joined and it's not fair.

That's the point - nobody ****ing gets it cause you live your own crazy world where you are entitled to stuff for free!
