Overwatch

in my experience, certain characters have a much less skill cap/learning curve than others.

there are just some toons you know will perform very well compared to others on the same skill level.

the above comment about Lucio is certainly proof of that.

If you're not shy and use a microphone, more than welcome to join us. We normally have a full premade, but I'm the letdown in the group and rarely play in the evenings. So no doubt I could introduce you to the group for you to play in a full team? It can get a bit strict but you simply need to listen to the callouts, callout your self and switch out when needed.

Thanks! I'm not shy, but I do need to get a microphone. Used to be part of a gaming group where we'd mic up and play games all night, but I've become a grown-up with children and all that guff since then and don't have as much time for it anymore.

I only get maybe one or two evenings (from 9pm) a week to play, so add me on BNet: Maloney#21759 and I'll join up when I can.

I'd agree, and I think Lucio's really big advantage at 'newbie' level is that you can turn on his heal and it works even when you're not paying attention.

Every other healer requires you to actually actively look at health bars. Obviously, as you get better with Lucio you do that too (lots to do with switching speed/heal, use of boost and shield and so on) but the basic, functional level of play is very accessible.

Zen is an absolute monster, definitely my preferred healer to play when in solo queue, for 2 reasons...

1. Like Lucio, he has an Ult which facilitates pushing or surviving an enemy push as a whole team, rather than Ana (which is a one hero buff) or Mercy (which although very powerful is more reactive; the team have to have died first and you have to not die)

2. Unlike most of the other supports he can dish out the damage when needed and it actually feels like with discord he makes a difference in team-fights, plus stands at least some sort of a chance when singled out by a flanker (especially when your team-mates might not be doing a great job of defending you)

I liked Zen a lot from the start and so happy that after the patches he's finally sometimes viable in comp :)

If you link your ps4 overwatch account to your blizzard account do your stats/unlocks carry over to PC if you purchase it ?

If not - what's the purpose of linking?

No, your PC stats will show separately. There's a switch that toggles between your PS4 and your PC character.

Can't say I've noticed any change. I'm running at 100Hz with G-sync though.

I actually played Zenyatta for the first time properly last night. I gotta say I don't think his healing is too bad really, you just have to have your wits about you as to who needs the orb the most.

I don't seem to get lots of kills with him, but I did get lots of assists due to (I guess) the discord orb and my damage output was fairly high.

Do people tend to charge up his secondary fire much? Discord orb + left click seems to do plenty of damage anyway really.

I like him a LOT but find it really hard to use him unless there's another healer. He can't carry in the same way Lucio can.

His alt fire is quite handy for when you're expecting folks to pop round a corner, or Mei's ice block is expriring etc, and want to preload a damage dump but for me it usually takes a back seat to Discord + LMB spam. That might be my relatively low skill level talking though.

I think the fact that you can't Discord someone while charging it hurts it a bit.

Yeah it's easy to do 'OK' with lucio but a really good lucio will be a right nuisance and difficult to kill.

Had a cracking night yesterday. Was on with 2-3 others in a group, won 6 out of 6 competitive matches putting me up to 52. Mostly close matches too which was nice.

I mostly play Lucio, he is easy to start with like most say and I find I'm getting better and harder to kill now. I usually stick back with the main group for the healing, I'm getting better with knowing when to switch to speed to help push a point, I also find I'm great for countering other Lucio's. One guy was getting real salty with me as I kept saving my Ult to counter his when they were attacking!

Switched to Zenyatta for a few matches to, I find I can do better damage with him than Lucio, Ult is about on par with Lucio but as VincentHanna says, you have to be so much more aware of what is going on to get the heals out compared to Lucio

My ranking has been all over the place so far :p Finished placement games on 58, went up to 61, dropped all the way down to 53 now I'm back at 58. Really hate it when you get a disconnected person give you a loss, which happened a few times that dropped me down to 53. Nearly had one yesterday, we were going to get a loss and we just had to get the payload to the first checkpoint to get a win. Managed it with 5 people thankfully.

edit: 64, what the hell why am I gaining entire levels in 1 game :D

Think it depends on the team level you're playing against compared to yours.

Really love Zenyatta but I find him hard to heal with sometimes with the orb being targeted. Not tried him yet since the changes though which sounded great.

From what I've been reading it's the streaks. If you go on a win streak you'll start gaining entire levels. Similarly losing streaks will make you drop entire levels really fast.

That could be it, I was getting more and more after each win which I thought was odd.

Flibby, the only hard thing I find with him is noticing when they get returned. Once you place a heal as long as you have line of sight it stays in place on your target. The only difference between him and Mercy in that regard is mercy's much more visual when you lose the heal connection.
