Nvidia 900's now legacy

I don't know, if one considers 980 TI a legacy card then I am pretty sure it'll do a lot better than 720p for quite a few years :)

I suggest you read the posts you quote next time. A 980ti was not mentioned, and obviously even a small child knows it's capable of more than 60FPS at 720P.

Regardless, the 980ti will surely suffer the same fate that the 780ti suffered - each driver update will further accentuate Pascal's lead over it. I expect several AMD cards will also eclipse the 980ti in 6 months or so, even though the 980ti used to be in a class of it's own.

How long was Fury on sale for before it was EOL? To me that card seemed to have the shortest shelf life I have ever seen.

ON sale sure, no where near shortest shelf life though and going off sale doesn't in any way mean only getting legacy drivers. AMD only put 5xxx series on Legacy what half a year ago or something.

Does this mean an driver enabling async for Maxwell in ATOS is cancelled, seems such a shame for them to work on this promised driver for so long then give up right before it's ready. No way they lied about Maxwell having async.... and Fermi DX12 drivers.

What card had a shorter life?

Didn't know this was about driver support,BTW Nvidia have always put the cards they stop manufacturing in that section has no relevance to legacy drivers. Obviously can't comment on the Async patch but Maxwell has the instruction set to be able to carry out Async through software whether it would actually help performance or not would be a another question :)

3870 was only out for like 7 months before it was replaced by the 4870, 4770 was only in production for a few months to get some 40nm testing in and was available for about 6 months before the 5870-5650 launched.

Looking back, the 3870 itself launched only 4 months after the 2900xt.

When choosing a high end card it's not like people have much choice, the 980Ti though outdated doesn't mean it's useless like some seem to imply. Pay for a high end card that becomes as good as the next upper mid range card released a year later.. So essentially we are getting the same performance a year earlier compared to those who get a 1070 for example.

When the 980Ti becomes useless so will a 1070 pretty much, and I'm still thinking Pascal was rushed due to appearing on the graphics roadmap late, the Titan being announced so early, and on top of that Volta rumoured to come next year instead of 2018.

Not a biased view either, just calling it how i see it.

First you move the goalposts by diverting the argument to AMD for no reason whatsoever, then you call him out for... diverting the argument? Really?

Haha I am not calling anyone out so don't get your knickers in a twist I was simply asking what cards had a shorter life as to me the Fury seemed like it had a very short life which he responded to.

I am not diverting anything anywhere this is a post about legacy graphics cards and a bit of misunderstanding between legacy and legacy driver support which are 2 different things. Time of the month is it? Thanks for your helpful input :)
