Happy Yorkshire Day from England's most English County

Technically England didnt exist until The Anglo Saxons period and it is recognized that Anglo Saxons and their descendants are English.

Of course the Celts were here first but they aren't English ;)

Sounds very English! Invade a country, force out he locals, rename the area and then a thousand years later proclaim yourself the most English! :p

Not like those darstardly Scandinavians so came a couple of hundred years later! ;)

Came later but never took over enough. I think east midland people are more Scandinavian than Anglo Saxons.

Anyway we only took the best bits, we left the celts with Wales and Scotland :p:p

Of course same can be said of most Canadians. You aren't the original people either :p

Pfff I'm not Canadian! :p

I was going to use that as an example actually, and what I was also thinking when I wrote that post.:D

Happy Yorks day from an ex Yorkshire-by-the-coaster.

And yeah - England = Angland. Them other Scananavians gave us our name though. And an overpriced heritage centre ;)

There are three types of people in our fair country of England: Yorkshiremen, those who wish they were Yorkshiremen, and those with no ambition whatsoever.
