Moving house in 2 weeks and was going to leave our Nest thermostat but buyer is being a d**K. I have not listed the thermostat on the list of items included with the sale so can I remove the nest leaving just the thermostat on the boiler or would I need to replace the nest will a wall thermostat?

Thanks for the replies, House didn't have central heating when we moved in so we have always just had the nest so there are no other thermostats in the house. The nest thermost is just in the cupboard with the boiler as I jus use my phone to control it.

In this case then i would assume that if you have always had the nest from when the central heating was installed then you wont have a 3 core thermostat wire installed as you didn't need it, so if you replace the nest you would need to put in another wireless system which are more costly than a basic wire stat linked above and so it might not be that much of a saving over just getting another nest in the new house etc

Seems a very strange thing to have a thermostat in a cupboard! Are you sure about this or is it just the wireless receiver that's in the boiler cupboard?

Anyway cheapest option would be to replace it with the Honeywell thermostat listed above, as it only needs simple wiring. But you can't have it in a cupboard, as that would be fairly pointless :) So probably just outside the cupboard maybe?

This...

You know what a thermostat does, yes..? They have a temperature probe in them, if you set the stat to 18 degrees, once it detects the air temperature around it is 18, it tells the boiler to turn off.

Never seen one in a cupboard before!

I would have serious rage if I was buying a house with a Nest setup and found it had been removed when I moved in.

I think you need to be pretty careful about this, I'd speak to whoever is dealing with the conveyancing.
