Tourists attacked in Afghanistan

We were looking at running tours to Afghanistan where I work but scrapped the plans after things started to kick off in Kabul a year ago.

Herat has been fairly safe for a long time though.
 
I can understand wanting some excitement on your travels but Afghanistan is rather a strange choice given the situation there.

I'm very curious Mickey... How long did you go to NK? How much about did it cost and how was the food?

Did the people seem down trodden and oppressed in the cities or is that just those in farming areas?

Asking as my friend and I are considering it in 3-5years...

I paid about £650 for the first trip from Beijing.

Cheers I will def commit your user to memory. £650 seems a little steep Imo for 5 days but then I'm a cheapskate of the highest order.

Apparently it was a simple misunderstanding when one of the keen photographers onboard the coach asked if they could go and get a few shots OF the locals.

I don't get it - some people like to live on the edge but there is so much more to do and see in life I don't understand why someone would be so reckless.
