eBay: why do I bother?

Ebay is far far worse. It sets itself up as a safe, secure way to buy and sell and time after time allows a system to exist that consistently leads to sellers getting screwed over. Once screwed over paypal will move in to make life as difficult as possible with their laughable debt recovery scheme. It is pathetic and quite staggering that it still exists in its current form. I have not sold a thing since I was scammed, although in my case, paypal did not get a penny out of me.

Madness.

Got a reply from the seller. Now even more confused.

I will be as polite as I can love proof but it was returned faulty and now refused to be replaced don't try this with me please I also have proof of posting as you requested return and replaced but nothing

I've never contacted the seller re a replacement or a return nor have they contacted me. Bemused

Love. All you need to do is tell him he has the wrong seller and to check his records.
Then remind him eBaywill side with you if he Persists because he is talking nonsense

Why don't you just tell them they might have contacted the wrong person.

You have never spoken to them before.

Ebay is one of the best websites I have used. That's as both a buyer and seller.

They would be sorely missed by both buyers and sellers if they didn't exist.

It's a toss up between ebay and amazon as to which is the best.

I sold my perfectly working GTX690 on ebay. Over a month later a message popped in to say that it had stopped working one night during gaming and he wanted money back... Sellers get utterly screwed on there and I am seriously uncomfortable putting anything of real value up for sale on there now....

Result.

Sorry about this you have been caught in an ongoing case with another ebay purchase from another ebay user with the same item descrpition and item. i do appologise said ebayer has been very unhelpfull and i hae rasied a case and must have somehow got a case opened with you as well.

I've sold hundreds of items and still do but I avoid popular consumer goods/items that any Joe Schmoe off the street may be interested in. I tend to stick to small easily posted profitable items and specialized items that require a certain amount of knowledge/interest to even inquire about I suppose.

I'd never sell a phone on Ebay for example I'd rather use it till it broke!

After reading all the ebay threads on here I hoped my claim for a faulty phone would be easy.

Phone arrived, looked in great condition and left feedback saying just that. Looks good.

Couple of days later inserted a mem card and it wasn't recognised. Informed the buyer and said I'll order another brand and try. New card arrived a few days later which also wasn't recognised.

Asked buyer for a refund which was refused. Opened dispute with ebay and they sided with buyer as I had left positive feedback.

Called ebay the following day and the person on the phone agreed I should have been refunded but as they had already decided in the seller's favour they couldn't ask him to refund me. So ebay refunded me the full amount and let me keep the phone which I sold on Gumtree :)

....listing the faulty memory card issue of course.
