I cannot see Everton ponying up £50m for him, or him wanting to leave Wolfsburg for Everton.

Given that I've just typed that...

I'd like to congratulate Everton on their £50m record signing of Julian Draxler.

Rooney eyes a new contract? No, just no. How far is he into his current 5 year?

something obscene like three seasons left on his current one and to be honest I wouldnt mind getting rid of him tomorrow, I cant see him being of much use this season let alone 17-18 or 18-19. Of course agents talk up the next deal I hope the board have enough sense to laugh it off unless its some kind of ambasaodorial role (although career wise that would be a bit early) for a lot less money.

Still being linked with Morata and Rodriguez, which I just cant see at all (and the quote from yesterday from JM indicating "one more player will be signed" could just as easily be A.N.Other considering his wording of the Pogba situation, as it could be referring to Pogba himself) - if its going to be anyone it will surely be a defender, and Utd need to sell / loan at least 2 players before anyone else can fit in the squad (or being paid while not having a squad number which isnt realistic).

Every summer for Arsenal...the joy of possibly a big name signing, followed by it actually being the signing of an obscure African based player.

Japanese this time round.

Gotta love our bargain basement hunt every ****ing year.

Before I'd get narked off with it but since last summer, I don't really give a toss anymore.

Doesn't matter who we sign, under Wenger we are not going to win a title.

Chessers back off to Roma for another season long loan.

And looks like Fernando Llorente will be at Swansea next season.

Aren't Arsenal the 4th highest so far? It's not like we've not spent anything.

I think it's Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City.

Although i think City's recent spending might have taken them into 2nd, maybe 3rd.

How come the Arsenal board doesn't understand that?

Ermm because under him, they know we will get our usual top 4 spot which means CL money along with the silly high prices we charge for games and season tickets.

It's all about profitability for the board, they aren't interested in titles and trophies. That's why we do our usual bargain basement hunt every summer. Plus it doesn't help that Wenger himself is an economist masquerading as a manager. Has a degree in economics so knows exactly how much we can spend before we get into negative.

I'm not sure but I'm not saying we don't spend money, we do but we don't spend it on the right players for the right positions.

Everyone in the world knows we so desperately need a striker but as of yet, nothing. Still hoping that in the next few weeks we do sign someone of note.

Thing with Wenger is he only spends on the right players, Suarez for example. If he thinks the player is worth it, he will spend. It's just difficult to find players at the right money, this summer is proving it. If he signs Lacazette for £50m, do you think he's worth that? I'm not sure he is, if you're not sure, best not to do it, right? If spends that amount on him and he doesn't succeed then Wenger will be blamed as well, so you can see the conundrum. I'd like to see a striker come in as well, but i think if you're spending 50m, you want to be 100% that player is going to add something to the team, otherwise it's just pointless really.

I thought this article was quite funny

Already won some mate.

97/98, 01/02, 03/04 :).

Also; 6x FA Cup wins.

Not sure if you are being deliberately obtuse or what, I'm not talking about the past mate. I know my clubs past pretty well, I'm talking about now and the future and under Wenger we don't look likely to win the title.

Last season was by far our best chance and we blew it, no amount of excuses can excuse our inexplicable failure of winning it last season.

I can see where you are coming from, no for me lazcette is nowhere worth 50mill and if we do pony up the money then as you rightly said, if he turns out to be an epic failure then Wenger will be blamed. Plus if he does come, it's going to take him a season or so to get used to the PL. Problem is he is coming from a very weak league, which made him look good a la Giroud. Although Giroud had done a decent-ish job for us since coming to us.

Meh it just seems every yr the transfer market gets more and more stupid with the prices being thrown about.

As for the article, I can't say I disagree with what it's saying. Prices are just stupidly dumb this yr. It doesn't help that Pogba et al don't really need to be sold as they are still in contract with their clubs so the clubs want compensation for the contract plus whatever they value the player at on top.

Of course but in the unlikely event it would ever happen you take the good years and the money, anyway you say that like Arsenal hasn't been a stepping stone for the last 15 years. I'm sure part of the deal if you sign for Arsenal is you but the plane ticket to Spain or the train to manchester.

You said "Under Wenger we are not going to win a title", which is false you have won three league titles already under him.

You do not have a 'right' to the premier league title. No club does, stop acting like you are 'owed' or 'due' a title.

Even the fans of other successful elite European clubs in this sub forum have not been acting like they have a right to win it; Chelsea fans, Manchester United fans.

I love Wenger, I like Arsenal a lot, but their fans have been ridiculous over the last few seasons with their level of expectation. As for 'not looking likely' to win a title under him, you have been ahead of what? 95+ clubs in this country?
