Of course but in the unlikely event it would ever happen you take the good years and the money, anyway you say that like Arsenal hasn't been a stepping stone for the last 15 years. I'm sure part of the deal if you sign for Arsenal is you but the plane ticket to Spain or the train to manchester.

Lol it was a tongue in cheek comment and if anything it was more of a dig at Draxler for wanting to move just after one season at Wolfsburg, which went over your head lol.

Hell if Draxler ended up coming to Arsenal, it wouldn't be too long before he would want to leave. So I'm glad we aren't really in for him, I don't think he would improve us. We have far too many players in the position he plays in so would be a headache for Wenger with selection for games.

to be fair, if there was ever a chance to win it, last season it was there for the taking for Arsenal.

Eh? Arsenal have finished in the top four places in English football consistently under Wenger for, ~15~? seasons.

The expectation that Arsenal should be winning titles is ridiculous, the expectation that they (like every other elite club) should be challenging is fair enough and that is exactly what they do .

I am slightly more critical of Arsenal in Europe to be honest; they play excellent football and could maybe have done more in Europe (similarly a criticism of Sir Alex's time at Manchester United).

last season, Chelsea, City and United where nowhere to be seen in the title race, last season was as good a chance as any for Arsenal to once again win the league....

Leicester were better over the course of a season :), nobody has a right to win the title because Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United had (relatively) poor seasons.

the point I'm trying to make, because so many big clubs did badly last year, it was really the best opportunity Arsenal had in years of capitalising on it to win the league.

Those clubs mentioned have all put themselves in a better position for challenging by changing managers. Something Arsenal should have done as well.

Arsenal have been in a situation over the last 4 years where I have honestly felt that with a bit of investment in key areas the title could have been ours - but that investment has not been forthcoming.

Transfer fees are all relative - when the club spent £7.5m on Dennis Bergkamp our annual revenue was £24m, I believe our annual revenue is £310m+ these days.

I can understand that we are weary of throwing £50m at Lacazette - I really don't think he is worth that, and I'd rather spend £50m in another area than a striker who I don't think will cut the mustard, but if you look around us everybody else is strengthening, and we are being left with the same gaps we've had for the last 3 years. If we start this season with just Giroud, Walcott and the kid whos name completely escapes me as our forward line it will be criminal.

I don't believe that Arsenal have any right to win the league, but to call us challengers is laughable. There is a reason that Arsenal fans have come to dread February / March - because you can guarantee that by the end of March we'll be out of the running in every single competition - and it has got to change - the only reason we came second last year was because everybody else was unbelievably poor and Tottenham had an epic implosion. This year without significant investment (a new CB and a top class RW/ST) I can see us dropping out of the Top 4 - and that would be a sad end to Wengers reign.

I honestly think there's just as much risk of the Arsenal board taking the club backwards as forwards with a managerial change.

So I take it all talk at the start of the week about Mahrez, Lacazette and Mustafi has stalled or come to fruition that is was just talk.

Lacazette isn't worth a penny over £30mil. I'd rather us not buy a ST (again) than buy a French Welbeck for overly inflated prices.

I'm confident that we'll sign a forward, if only because of the failed bid for Vardy, it shows Arsene at least recognises that Giroud alone won't be enough. Whether Lacazette is the one we need I'm not sure, going on the rumours if it's between Lacazette and Icardi I'd rather Icardi not that I'm an expert in either Ligue Un or Serie A but the Italian league is notoriously defensive and Icardi has a very good record in it.

I'd like us to go for Lukaku, show we are actually willing to put up big numbers for big names. Similar to what we did with Saurez but actually get said player.
