Russell Square stabbings: Man arrested on suspicion of murder

its getting a bit pathetic really. mods need to take a firmer hand, its in the rules for goodness sake - "OcUK holds a strict policy of inclusion, as such, members posting in a xenophobic, racist, or in a prejudiced nature will not be tolerated. Posts that defame an individual or group of individuals owing to their race or ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, or sexuality for example (the list is not exhaustive) will be removed and a suspension to their account will be applied. Clint pretty much on the money with the last paragraph about the overly sensitive generation we have right now.

Speaking of mental health, I think there's a few people here who could do with getting some help.

Some people are seriously suggesting the police and media are in cahoots to cover up an Islamic terrorist attack and blame it on mental health so they don't affect tourism??

Not everything is a conspiracy.

Yeah, because nothing needs to be said about the xenophobic generation.
Hmmmmm......
To me it looks like there is an old xenophobia that has died and has been buried (and GOOD RIDDANCE) and another that has raised it's ugly head using political correctness as a weapon to silence and conquer!!
If you think that only white people are xenophobic then get your head out of the sand and look around!!
The west is in PC mode while the enemy (whoever they may be?) is laughing their socks off and getting on with their agenda and growing stronger.

So you are PC if you're against unjustified stigma towards people whatever their race/religion/nationality?

Behave. His comments just epitomises how racism was quite accepted by his generation. He grew up in a time when they had separate drinking fountains for blacks FFS! his bigotry will die out with him and most of his generation, then we'll be left with a couple of younger 'odd balls'.

Please find where he supported such stuff.
Go look for it and come back.

It's happened before though, such as the knife attack in the Swedish Ikea store. Very little news on that event.

I didn't say he did, but his generation excused that, it was acceptable. His comments just sum up that he is out of touch with the modern day. The behaviours of the older generation are no longer valid. He is out of touch..

So untwist your panties, petal.

Yet this is the generation that says white people can't do yoga or have dreadlocks or wear sombreros because theyre the wrong race.

It was also his generarion that changed and outlawed it not yours or mine.

The last sentence:

He grew up in the 30s and 40s, when segregation was in full swing and completely acceptable in the eyes of the law.

And so he was a partnof the generarion that banned it

Also 30's? You think hes nearly 100 years old?

Edit:holy **** 1930 damn hes good for his age

The last sentence:

To quote that whole last sentence and not just the last half of it he actually says:

We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist.

Which is not too dissimilar to today. We often see people throw around the racism card when things aren't racist. So from that article how do we know what he is referring to when he say those things aren't racist? Without that you can't make a judgement on him. Shock as media uses sound bite to get a reaction.

And what about the people of his generation that fought against genuine racism and discrimination? Is that part of his generation out of touch too?

Whilst true, your statement is a little misleading. You know that there was the anti establishment, the hippie movement and then also blacks (Luther King) effecting the civil rights acts. It wasn't as if the whole generation embraced one another and said "oh yeah, we're terrible racists, sorry about that, we'll change" and suddenly all got along. I'll safely say many of those people carried on, just being out right racist as always.

He grew up in the 30s and 40s, when segregation was in full swing and completely acceptable in the eyes of the law.

Indeed!

No, there was great opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In-fact Johnson had to guilt trip the opposition because JFK campaigned for it so hard.

No, he's an old man who is stuck in his ways. I can totally get his POV, I don't think racism even existed in white peoples vocabulary back then due to how commonplace it was for black people to be treated like second-class citizens. Knowing that, he should just stay away from politics - he makes is proving that point in spades unfortunately.
