I just don't think there is a top level striker available, Lacazette for £50m doesn't seem like the solution to me.
Get a goalscoring winger to play on that right side, that'll shift the pressure of Giroud and alleviate our striker problem.
Or sod it, throw £120m at Dortmund and take Batman and Robin.
Maybe there isn't this window, but again Wenger is being bad about buying for the future. I said last summer beyond just needing a top DM, I was disappointed that we weren't also buying a highly rated cheaper youngster, maybe they wouldn't work out but those are the moves you make, some pan out, others don't, for every one that does it's money saved on buying an experienced player in the future. Wenger is the only manager I can think of in all of european football who is responsible entirely for the state of the youth system, all younger players bought. Mourinho buys a youngster 3 years ago, it's a different manager either using or getting rid of that player. Youngsters others bought Mourinho will now get the benefit of or the burden of at Utd, Wenger is the only manager who has had the chance to benefit from his long term plans.... and he's failed.
Maybe a top striker isn't available now, but we should have bought Higuain when he was available and far cheaper, cheaping out then cost us a top striker for the past 2 years and probably for the next 2 years. Same goes for Griezman, £30mil he cost, obvious exceptional talent, missed out there again.
We were easily the better option over Napoli and had far far more financial muscle than them but Wenger didn't like the bidding war and got beaten out.
Wenger is responsible for not going for Higuain when he was available, and Griezman, and a half dozen other top strikers. He actively chose not to buy them because he believed their price wasn't worth it because he had Giroud, who he massively over rated. His inability to rate/judge his own players has cost us so many deals we could have easily made.
Now if a new manager came in this summer and couldn't find a top striker, that wouldn't be his fault because he had no control over the previous windows, but again this is the one area where Wenger has zero excuse. His poor decisions year on year continue to cost us heavily, you can't just say there is no one available this window, because both it's his fault that we're in this situation of needing someone this window AND he should be doing a better job buying the next generation of top strikers. The two situations in which the longer a manager is in a job the bigger advantage he has he's failing very very badly.
