Black Lives Matter protest in London and Nottingham

.... Is this sarcasm?

No the guy on Radio 4 this morning from the UK BLM said the protest is to bring peoples attention to the fact black immigrants are being killed every year in detention centres. When asked, he couldn't say how many as they dont have access to the numbers but its "definitely some" and couldn't say that they are in fact been "killed" as there are never any inquiries into the deaths and its all covered up and that's what these protests are for, to make people aware and hopefully get some inquiries started

Listen to the interview I linked earlier.

At best this is just irrelevant waffle, at worst it's "You should count yourself lucky to live in my country"

Why all the divisive language. It's our (mine, yours, everyone's) country. You should feel lucky to live in it. I do. Could be a hell of a lot worse, for everyone.

Great, I'm flying from terminal 5 this evening, and getting a cab from Weybridge.

The must have heard that my gf and I are Saffas :p

So it has no legitimacy then

Benefit scroungers with nothing better to do than protest at anything, thats what these people are. Like you say their issues dont exist here theyre just following the yanks like sheep.

I'm curious to know how you managed to find out that all of these protester are benefit scroungers with nothing better to do than protest at anything. That's some pretty awesome detective work, even by OCUK standards.

As has been said, they like everyone else, white included should count themselves lucky.
If being in a country where black people are the overriding race is so important, why don't they move to somewhere in Africa or similar. Is it probably because the quality of life over there is overall much worse and they're better off here? I'd say so.

I feel like you need to explain your point now, or it looks like you're bailing.

YOU raised the issue about "not knowing what it's like..." but you won't give reasons or expand further. It will antagonise posters to read such a one-sided argument.

how so? I have explained,

lots complaining about black people protesting about their treatment, if your not black how would you know how they feel?

and as far as atagonising anyone is that some kind of joke? are the people attacking me posting balanced arguments?

Be specific.

You don't get to play the victim card and justify it by "cos i said so lol".

Black Lives Matter should really be renamed to "Black Lives Matter Too".

I have a lot of issues with the way the the movement has behaved and I know a lot of black people who are appaled by their behaviour. At the moment, they behave like a mob because there is no 'head' of the momvent like there was when MLK / Malcom X were around.

Racism (against all races) still exists (even in the UK!) and will continue to do so for a long time. The only way to stop it is to target the younger generation and make them realise the colour of someones skin does not dictate who they are and who they can become. The same can be said for Feminism (i.e. having one set of genitals does not make you better than someone with different genitals)

The majority of the current / older generation will never change their views and in my opinion are a lost cause. The younger generation are typically more tolerant then the generation before them so hopefully within the next 100 years, the world will be just a little bit better.... hopefully.

if your not black you have no idea what its like to be a black person in a white world.

who said im black?

if you people don think racism still exists in the UK then your on another planet, you just have to read this thread.

Explain to us the problems in the black community...

I dont need to, I just know that if your not black you have no idea how black people living in the UK feel, some obviously feel they need to highlight the way some of them are still being treated.

What are they annoyed with then that leads to this?

you'll have to ask them

why do you think?

I am asking, you tell me

how many of them are black?

I'm sorry if this offends people, but to me #BLM in the UK looks like the usual crowd of lefty rabble-rousers using victim politics to further general angst about capitalism, borders, law and order etc.

Hardly a compelling defence of your initial point is it? Posters have engaged with you only to be met with one-word responses or deflection

im not playing the victim card and be specific about what? how you wouldn't understand what its like to be black in white world? isnt that self explanatory?

Ah, so you've changed your tune. Fair enough, I'll dismiss your little sidestep and say no, I don't know what it's like to be black in a white world.

And now it's my turn.

What is the point of that comment, and how does it relate to the topic being discussed?

What we are asking is: Name the justifiable areas where black people are suppressed.

Forget "feelings" they are anecdotal and don't mean jack.

Props to EVH for keeping a tight eye on this. I don't know if there's been a bit of chitchat behind the mod curtains about the way some are behaving lately but if this thread is anything to go by, it's certainly working, whatever it is. Keep it up :)
