Black Lives Matter protest in London and Nottingham

Hardly a compelling defence of your initial point is it? Posters have engaged with you only to be met with one-word responses or deflection

why do i need to defend anything? i havent posted anything controversial my point stands, its simple how would any of you know how black people feel about these issue if your not black?

Ah, so you've changed your tune. Fair enough, I'll dismiss your little sidestep and say no, I don't know what it's like to be black in a white world.

And now it's my turn.

What is the point of that comment, and how does it relate to the topic being discussed?

i havnt changed my tune, and it relates because some of you are complaining about black people protesting, so again how would you know how they feel if your not black?

Deflecting deflecting deflecting

I've seen some "black lives matter" activists running around screaming "whitesim" "all lives don't matter, black lives do" etc etc..

like cmon, killing ANYONE who is unarmed/defenceless is unfair but if you start including stuff like race in this then you're just going to escalate the problem not solve it.

all these road blocks, protests etc are just fuelling the hate.

similar to what is happening to Muslims due to all the extremists.

I can read. I can watch the news. I can even join dots and read between the lines. Based on these life skills, I can say that I agree to an extent that there is a racism issue in the US of A. Again, based on the same life skills, I can say that you're barking up an imaginary tree if you think racism is an issue here.

Now please, do enlighten us as to how you think it might be an issue? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm asking you to educate me so I can change my opinion. If you can't, simply say so so I can dismiss you and move on with life. You're going round in circles and not achieving anything.

I really do think what drs101 is saying is relevant. The enormous majority of us on this forum are white, as is reperesentitive of most of the country. We have no idea what it feels like, for the most part, for people to treat us different because of our skin colour.

My girlfriend is ethnically Indian, though was raised in the UK, and since I've been with her I've seen all sorts of racism that I would never experience when I'm on my own.

Your perspective on how bad it is, as a white man, just doesn't tell the full story.

And here you're touching on the subject we're asking. Explain to us in what way this happens, give us examples. I know racism exists. I've seen it. I experience it plenty when I come home late at night from Brixton tube station, racism is a real thing but it's a far cry from what these protesters are making it out to be. This, again, is my opinion. I'm happy to be educated.

Thank **** for that. That's been irritating me since he started posting. Kind of undermines your argument if you can't even get the most basic things right like punctuation and spelling.

That however is an argument for a different day.

Are you Indian as well?

We get funny looks here and there. The one that stands out was a skin head that stared at her and I like he was about to murder us while we were on the tube one day. I started to confront him and my girlfriend pulled me off the train. We went to the next carriage and he just sat there staring at us. I would have taken the bate, but she wasn't happy about it.

More surprisingly, the way that other Indian people treat you is worse than anyone else. All sorts of old Indians looking at you like you've just stolen their purse. I'm assuming they're thinking your diluting their race. **** them.

These incidents aren't all that common, but I'd never have experienced any of them without her being there.

Are you Indian as well?

No, I'm white.

Great. Now can you answer my post too?

what explain racism in the UK? stop and search, poverty and low literacy rates, lake of advancements or aspiration, granted the problems are not as bad as the US or SA but we still have big problems.

At every level of society black people are not being given the opportunities to advance in the same way as the white majority, that's just some of the top of my head.

My white friend goes out with a mixed race girl. He, more often that not, gets grief from black guys on nights out. She always gets asked 'Why you with him', 'don't you want a big ****'. Teeth kissing galore.

Like the above. He never received this whilst single or with white girls.

my gf is mixed race, Indian and British.

her mums side seems to be perfectly fine with me, an eastern european immigrant(the worst of the worst)

We don't seem to get any weird looks to be honest! then again, I live in Croydon and the area is very much mixed! so I guess people don't pay attention to something as simple as that.

Completely made up. Free education til 18 and I would argue even University is 'free' until you leave. Minus living costs.

Poverty and low literacy rates affects the whole spectrum.

I think a lot of mixed raced (indian/white) girls look quite Mediterranean.

I'm struggling to see it? I have mates, colleagues etc who are black and no one seems to struggle going up in life.

I have a feeling that some people create a problem that doesn't exist and then live pretending that their skin colour has anything to do with their achievements in life. :)
