well it's took a journey today from waltham cross to hatfield hub and hopefully up to alfreton by the morning. to be fair yodel customer services have been spot on. Think the problem is the £250,000 barcode scanner that the hub uses lol.

She's arrived hoorah that came quick over the course of last night it went from place to place and got to my door today at 5.30 can't fault Michelle in the investigations team.

Quick dry run and 0 dead pixels and the slightest bit of blb in the bottom left corner. I'll get it set up tonight as only used out the box settings. Something tho 2560x1440 looks so much better than 1080p everything looks so crisp and texture detail on games looks way better too.

Went through two of these and one of its predecessor the XB270HU, each one had at least one defect. Worst one had dead pixels and incredibly poor white uniformity, part of the screen was very obviously yellowish in the whites. I also had the screen artifact where there was a strip of pixels in the middle showing an incorrect part of the image.

Other than that the performance of the screen was exceptional and the 144hz, IPS and gsync combo was perfect. Just a massive shame that the quality control on the panel is shockingly bad. I would also say that it's not simply a case of me getting unlucky. Sure, if I got one bad panel then yes, but getting basically three bad panels is simply not bad luck. Put simply, you are lucky if get a good panel. Either that or there's tons of people who simply don't care about quality control.

EDIT: I would also recommend you purchase the panel from a retailer that is known for good customer service on returns. My first panel was bought from OCUK and had very clear and obvious defects, but was told quite clearly that these are not classed as defects. They didn't even ask for photos or anything, just came across with this attitude that I had to deal with it. In the end, I just returned it under DSR and had to pay like £20 or something for shipping.

For the second two monitors I bought them from a competitor and the difference in customer service was night and day. The bloke I spoke to was incredibly pleasant and understanding, all he asked for was some pictures, they arranged for a collection of the old monitor and delivery of the new one on the same day. When the second monitor also had a screen defect, I returned it for a full refund and they arranged the collection with no charge on me for the shipping. Was absolutely delighted with this level of service.

Good to hear that.
What are you going to buy next?
That's what put me off buying ips panel at the moment.Never had TN panel but there seems to have less problem now compare to IPS.

That's very disappointing. OcUK continually comment on how good their customer service is but reading on their forums they still seem to put profits before customer service. I am looking to purchase a £500 monitor but I would want the reassurance that I could return it if it had a dead pixel, light bleed etc.

I just bought the one that was put up on B-Grade for £400, hopefully it's not one of you blokes returned panel :p

Been checking that section out and I think it was only put up this afternoon.

It should be here before the weekend so hopefully nothing wrong with it.

subjective subject acer warranty states that due to the manufacturing proccess some dead pixels can be normal and warranty claims will be on a case by case basis lol .

I really wouldn't take a risk on a b grade monitor, you can pretty much bet that it will be a return from someone who had dead pixels or really bad light bleed.

Out of the box settings on the xb271hu aren't great i'm hoping to get my hands on a spyder soon to get it calibrated properly. But so far so good, gaming on 144Hz is such an experience compared to 60Hz gameplay has been exceptionally smooth too, whether that's the higher frame rate or the g sync i'm not sure.

The OSD does take a bit of getting used to but i've pretty much cracked using that already. i would say just play around with the OSD to get a feel of the buttons and layout before you commit to making too many changes

Meh, I thought I'd give it a try, seems like there's the same chance with regards to panel defects as if I bought new :p

I'm so impressed with this monitor, surprised how little AA you need at this res on 27 inch.
I think the extra power needed over 1080p can be negated most of the time by dropping the AA, Was playing far cry 4 last night and it looked stunning.

Well I get to test mine after work today.

It'll be the day I found out and decide whether it was a good risk or not :p

Otherwise I'l just be going for the Dell TN.

I wish you luck, the out off the box setting aren't grade i've knocked the brightness back down to 36. should be getting a spyder 5 soon to get it calibrated properly,

Seems like I got lucky?

Got a notification saying it had been delivered earlier so I nipped out over lunch and set it all up.

From the quick tests I did, no dead pixels and minimal backlight bleed.

It worried me though that they just sent the monitor on it's own with no outer box plus the flaps weren't secured!!

Have a photo on my phone but will post better ones when I get home.

Glad I took the chance for £400 :D

it was the same with mine just came in the massive predator box for everyone to see, i think they could at least wrap them in black shrink wrap to keep prying eyes off lol. Be sure to let the monitor warm up before calibrating any settings. and good luck getting used to the OSD it's fiddly at first but once you get used to it then it's fine.

Oh and turn the power LED to dim in the settings because it's far too bright.

I just turned gaming mode off as it was rubbish to be honest. Got it set up nice now, glad you like it Jim. Could never go back to 1080p.

Gaming mode is awful i'll agree with you there. i really think these monitors would perform well with a full calibration. i'm thinking of getting a spyder 5 as the last time i used one it made a huge difference to my dell so might just get one and do mine then the ones at work etc and see how it performs.

No way i tried my dell ultrasharp 1080p again on wednesday and was massively disappointing so gave it to my friend at work lol.

I just love the fact i can have 2 web pages open side by side with plenty of room. i was actually using chrome in each corner last night and it was still a very good experience, it's amazing just how much extra retail space you get moving to 2560x1440.
