New earphones (IEMs) for music.. Up to £200

If you can find the A83 in budget go for those. Lighter housings with better cabling. Dunu's have the better build quality but weigh a tonne and I dont get along with cable-down as well as I do with over-ear, just not as secure for me.

Bought them for 230 from Amazon (fulfilled)
I'm guessing they are genuine as they seem to be from a reputable seller.

Still tempted to get a a pair of d2000j to compare

When I got my TF 10s I also got a pair of se530s (I think) and straight away returned the shures as they weren't my thing

I won't be getting any amplification! Its too much for the pocket with my phone

Really not sure if I like these at all.
Hard to describe but everything feels 'mixed up' and almost chaotic

What are you plugging them in to?
I can tell you that every instrument has it's own space on my gear.

Straight into my s7 edge (I don't think it's a terrible phone for this).
If they require an amp in between probably not for me. It will be too much to carry

Maybe you've not got a good seal?

Seriously, if you've got them fitted right and there is no hardware fault with them or your phone, you are the first person I have heard of that doesn't like them.
What is especially strange is that one of their biggest pluses is their detailed sound, which seems to be where you are finding issue.

One thing I will say, when I first got my A73s, on first listen I liked them but when I came back to them the next day they sounded completely different and I really didn't like them at all. Luckily I stuck with them because this "off" sound they had soon disappeared, leaving me wondering whether it was a bad seal or just that my brain needed to adjust to the new signature.

I'm not sure of the issues. But from memory (unfortunately too long ago to be memorable) my TF 10 sounded mind blowing out of the box. I never needed anything to boost them.

Its almost as if they sound a bit.. Dead. Not as in broken (I hope) but flat.
Unfortunately with these things there isn't really any way to tell if you have a dud set vs your personal preference.

Maybe I need a more familiar sharper V signature?
I'm not sure

Listening again it feels as if particularly the treble isn't handled well. And almost feels scratchy, muffled or something

I have asked on head fi if what I describe is right

Summary
A83 vs tf10
Not enough sparkle in treble
Not enough power in bass
Too 'close' soundstage
Bass speed is finely
Mids are OK or over pronounced

Decided to keep these.
1. Didn't fancy the hassle of sending them back
2. Seems like my d2000 had similar trouble with the treble as the a83s.

Therefore
It must be a poor DAC in my phone
I can't remember well enough
The tf10 were exceptional

I think it's between the first two!

The bi-flanges seemed to improve things too

Do the Logitech UE triple fi's still stack up? I wasn't blown away with them when I bought them (paired with a galaxy S3 at the time) and tend to use my bluetooth sennheiser momentum 2 wireless headphones now, perhaps it's worth getting them out again to revisit.

To get the most out of them you need to pair them with a DAC/DAP.
I have got a pair of UE triple fi's and early last year I paired my S3 with a Creative E3 and the Triple fis sounded awesome.
I now have a Cowon Plenue D DAP and Fidue A83's which continue to blow me away.

I had the Sennheiser IE80s and sold them because they didnt sound much better than my cheap Sennheiser MM 30i's.

For the hassle of shaping the buds to go in your ears every time its simply not worth the gains in sound quality

You only have to do that with the memory foam tips, I just use the silicon rubber type and they just push right in, which takes no time at all.
