Im pretty sure that people on here were saying that Zlatan was going to be on £500k/w with a huge signing on bonus like £10m. Again, the reality is nowhere near that. People just love to use it as a stick to beat United with and then ignore anything that suggests otherwise.

No, people on here (me) said the total cost of the deal including wages, signing on fees etc would be around £20m. And I'd bet thats, give or take, right.

Come off it United fans did the same when City were trying to break into the big time or with what Chelsea were spending on players. It's hardly just used as a stick to beat United.

For years United fans were top of the tree laughing about players only going to less successful clubs because they were mercenaries, now the boot is on the other foot. You had to over pay because your club isn't as desirable anymore. Of course this could be a dawn of a new era and as you become successful you won't need to get your pants pulled down like this again.

united have always had to overpay, even when they were successful, our competition for signings is against the more glamorous Real Madrid and Barca who have better weather.

Did they? I don't think so. When they were the best they just leaked to the papers they were interested in Saha or Yorke and they came running. Same with Rooney, RVN was a steal. I don't think they over paid tbh when they were top of the food chain.

Now there's more clubs in this league spend big, also Jose. As much as I like the guy his treatment of staff/players will put a lot of players off. I love that he's in the EPL but his treatment of Bastein and Mata is pretty appalling.

Give it 18 months and his agent will be moving him on again.

Late announcement!

United sign Pogba

Manchester United is delighted to announce that Paul Pogba has completed his transfer from Italian club Juventus. Paul joins on a five-year contract, with the option to extend for a further year.

Paul, 23, has been with Juventus for four seasons, making 124 appearances and scoring 28 goals. He joined the Bianconeri from United in 2012.

The midfielder has been capped by France on 38 occasions, scoring 6 goals and was a member of the recent squad that reached the final of Euro 2016.

Paul Pogba said:

“I am delighted to rejoin United. It has always been a club with a special place in my heart and I am really looking forward to working with José Mourinho. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Juventus and have some fantastic memories of a great club with players that I count as friends. But I feel the time is right to go back to Old Trafford. I always enjoyed playing in front of the fans and can’t wait to make my contribution to the team. This is the right club for me to achieve everything I hope to in the game.”

At least the constant speculation stops now. I wonder if all future transfers will be dissected like this one has on here. United are overpaying massively for a lad whose numbers are no better than Dele Allis or James Milners.

Have I missed something, has the transfer fee officially been released?

It hadn't when you asked yesterday but it has now http://www.juventus.com/en/news/news/2016/paul-pogba-joins-manchester-united.php

€105 + €5m paid over 2 years.

It would also appear that it was Juventus that ended up paying the agent fees https://twitter.com/SkyKaveh/status/762803274630172672 also backed up by a Juventus saying "The economic effect is positive for about € 72.6 million, net of solidarity subsidy and auxiliary expenses." in a press release http://www.juventus.com/media/nativ...s/2015-2016/comunicato 09082016 pogba eng.pdf

90 million pounds then. Safe to assume that wouldnt include signing on fees or agents fees but then do we include these when discussing other transfers?

Still, crazy amount of money. I cant help but think they could have got better for that.
