I got an email tonight from Tesco saying:

"Thank you for changing your details, your account has been successfully updated. If you didn’t change your details then please change your password immediately at Tesco.com and contact our Customer Services on"

Followed by another email from Tesco Clubcard titled

'Updated address for your Clubcard Boost order xxxxxxxxx'

"Dear ,

Thank you for placing your Clubcard Boost order. Your order will be sent to the updated address(es).

If you didn’t place an order with Clubcard Boost and change your details, please change your password imm2ediately at Tesco.com/clubcard and contact our Customer Services on.. "

Didn't ring any bells with me, I didn't recall changing or ordering anything. I tried to log in to my Tesco account and couldn't. Then I realised something dodgy really has happened.

I rang Tesco customer services and they told me that £52 of my £61 worth of clubcard had been used this evening to buy several tickets for some event. He changed my email address back and advised me to change the password. He said it'll be passed onto the fraud people and that Tesco will get my stolen clubcard voucher amount put back on my account. These hackers really are such *******, are they not

"Sorry boss, i'm going to be late in today. I have to deal with the fraud line!"

"yeah, some ******* stole my club card points!"

:p

Tesco points are worth quite a lot.
I have 100 pounds in my account.
That's 400 pounds of meal or day out trips

I think he thought the o/p was jesting with the amount of first world problems people have.

:D

Mainly yes. I shop at Sainsbury's and so have a Nectar Card. If someone hacked it and stole my points, I'd just get another and live my life. :p

Ours got hacked a couple of months back, happened to coincide with mine and the wifes new Tesco credit cards going missing in the post.
Tesco made a complete mess of everything. First person didn't cancel the lost cards and sent us new cards with the same numbers.
Then the clubcard was used by someone to purchase tickets for something. The person we phoned about that, didn't do anything about it.
The next time we phoned, the chap we spoke to was shocked that nothing had been done and reckoned he was going to report the person was had previously dealt with us. We ended up with the value of the vouchers returned to us by Tesco plus £40 compensation for all of the hassle.

Just a reminder for peeps who get hacked to check if there details are online anywhere (this is worth a go https://haveibeenpwned.com).

Getting something like a club card account hacked is usually either a stupidly simple password or details from a previous bulk hack being used. Never reuse passwords.

1. £61 is a fairly specific amount and a hellova lotta club card points
2. Your password was something obvious like a relative's name.

Your 'hacker' knew both of these facts. They know you.
