Stones is a strange one as I don't rate him at all, having said that I didn't rate Ferdinand that highly either but as history shows he didn't turn out that bad.

Wonder if that will kick off a few leaving Everton (Lukaka and Barkeley)

Stones will become an excellent CB. Defenders always need a few years to iron out a few mistakes, particularly if you're the type of CB Stones is but he's got the raw materials there.

I think Stones is a good defender and he will flourish at City personally. He isn't going there to warm the bench and I assume he will be first choice. Kompany looks done at City and they haven't got 2 other good defenders. Mangala looks poor at best most of the time and the less said about Dimichelis the better.

I assume the deal for Stones is ~£50m which is probably on the high side but I think he has a lot of potential and could be well worth it in the end.

He isn't going to be another Sinclair, Delph or Bony because he is filling a first XI position that needs filling and he is actually good.

Although it's not looking likely, if Kompany comes back and plays most of the season alongside Stones then I really think Stones can be moulded into a great cb. He still has a way to go as he was hit and miss last season.

The Stones fee is £47.5m (BBC). Be interesting to see how he gets on, he's more composed than your average defender with better passing, but when it comes to actual defending he usually looks pretty suspect.

Stones also fits into Peps style - I can't see him warming a bench. Fee is pretty high but in todays market I can see it becoming the norm.

I don't believe that for one second. I can't remember Valencia missing a 5 yard backwards pass all last season.

Pogba is a phénoménal signing to be honest, so pleased, absolutely adored watching him play at Juventus.

Stones is a cracking signing too in all honesty, he 'fits' the philosophy and style which Guardiola requires, he could develop in to an excellent central defender under Guardiola.

Manchester United and Manchester City both have deadwood and both could do with another signing or two in my opinion.

I think Stones and Pogba willl both be excellent signings for City and United respectively. I disagree that either are overrated. Yes, they are big transfer fees, but both players are still very young and have loads of potential. Stones fits the bill perfectly for Pep, he's a CB who likes to play the ball out of defence and generally, as Opta stats show, does it very well. I think Pep is the perfect manager to turn him into a world class CB too.

edit: what are Swansea playing at? They've sold two of their best players with no sign yet of decent replacements. They're horribly short of strikers too, I can see them being prime relegation candidates if they don't sort things out before the end of the window.

To be honest, I know he is not a 'fashionable' player, but Williams would have a strong shout for getting in to most Premier League defences. At £12,000,000 that is an absolute steal for an experienced, solid defender, not to mention a leader.

12mil for Williams is decent business for me as well. Solid defender, a wealth of experience in the premier league, leadership qualities.

Good signing if Everton pull it off, how Arsenal aren't in for him is nuts.

I'm pleased with the Stones money, he is a liability. He has loads of potential sure and I hope they can iron his retardedness out. I do feel lots of it was Martinez not having a clue what to do with him and just letting him play like a 14 year old.

I wouldn't be sad to let the press keep blowing Barkley up either, so we can cash in similarly. He too could be better with Martinez out of the picture.
