I thought McNair was supposed to be decent? Bit stupid selling CBs even if they are backup when that's a position you're short in.

Bailly - young new signing, lacking top flight experience
Smalling - injured at the moment?
Jones - not a footballer, probably on his way out
Rojo - not a cb, probably on his way out anyway
Blind - same as above
Blackett - academy graduate, only played during the cb injury crisis, couldn't hack it at celtic
McNair - obviously on his way out

also
Timothy Fosu-Mensah
but yh needs one or two more as back up

Not sure what happened to Mcnair really, he just seemed to stop getting chances. love I think only played one league game for us last season? He didn't look particularly impressive. Surprised Sunderland want him tbh.

Surely Man City with all this lavish spending are falling foul of financial fair play?

You have to understand how transfers are accounted for. Transfer fees are amortised meaning the total cost is spread over the length of the players contract. Taking Stones as an example: he will only cost City £7.9m per season as the £47.5m is spread over the 6 years of his contract.

A clubs total player amortisation is the figure that matters. As of the other year City's total player amortisation was around £80m per year - the £7.9m for Stones plus all the other signings this summer get added to that amount. You must also remember that for every new transfer there will also be old transfers (somebody that was signed 5 years ago for example) where the fees have now been fully amortised (or the player is sold) and their costs are deducted from that £80m. This is purely a wild guess but I'd be surprised if City's summer dealings cost them much more than £15-20m (+ a relatively small rise in their wage bill) on their accounts and the new TV deal is worth over £50m more than last season.

wasn't FFF ditched?

I'm hoping a clear out of some dead wood at Man U will lead to a 5th signing at the end of the month, I'm still nervous about our RB/CB/DMC areas.

While transfer fees are usually spread over a number of years it is not dictated by the contract length. The clubs decide how many years on a case by case basis, Pogba for example is reported to be spread over two years, Higuain over 3 years etc.

I'd like a left back and 1 more centre back and then I'd be quite content with our purchases. Then if we can shift out Balotelli, Benteke and Markovic, that would do for me. But getting a new Left Back before the window closes is an absolute must.

Sakho,Lovren,Klaven,Matip and Gomez should be enough at the back. I want a forward personally. My faith in Sturridge is zero and i feel Origi might be a little young.

Lucas to decide today if he's leaving

Bit disappointed McNair didnt kick on, he always looked ok but nothing more than that imo

To be fair though I think he has had a few International outings in midfield where (by the reports) he looks pretty good.

£5m these days is peanuts, even with £2m add ons , a player familiar with the league for little money. He covers 3 positions too which Moyes will like, incl RB

Smalling - injured at the moment?
No he isnt injured, but he has a 1 match ban from the FA Cup final which is why he hasnt played in the last few matches, so he wont play vs Bournemouth in the opening weekend

Still seems a little odd not to have him play any games before he will be back in the first team. Smalling will be first choice CB after the first game.

Well he was injured, he was back in training last week though. I assume they thought it not worth bringing him back for the Shield when he can't play the first league game anyway.

Im sure JM said he was basically fit a couple of weeks ago but wanted to prepare Bailly and Blind for Bournemouth

(Not denying we need another CB though, but at this point its plain to see it wasnt McNair so good luck to him @ Sunderland)
